Viewsat MAX HD's future ?
is it worth buying when nagra3 is around the corner. What about guys who currently buying 9000HD, will they get support releases in future or MAX HD is the future, Will 9000HD support TurboHD?

Re: Viewsat MAX HD's future ?
Thats the big question on everyones mind. Which receivers will handle N3. Nfusion made a big leap in proving they will probably be able to handle N3 with their test bin for the HD model yesterday. Quite a few people were watching the NFL Sunday ticket on BEv which is broacast in N3. This in no way proves they can run all channels in N3 but it is a promising start.

the max hd will ALWAYS work for what the reciever was intended for.....to recieve true FTA clear, unencrypted satellite signals.....this is what this reciever was manufactured, advertised, and sold to do......
these recievers are not made to hack into encrypted satellite signals.....if that is the reason why you are purchasing your reciever, then you are purchasing this reciever for the wrong reasons......
therefor, if your reciever stops "working" for your intended purposes in the near future, you have only yourself to blame, not viewsat......
unless your physical reciever becomes damaged or becomes defective, then it will always work the way viewsat intended it to work......

I would like to object by saying that a 200MHz processor and 32GB Ram are far beyond the necessary hardware capabilities of a receiver intended to receive only clear FTA channels. Of course Viewsat designs every single model with that in mind. They always have done so, they are no fools and they know perfectly clear that had their receivers not had the necessary hardware preparation for what they are actually used for, they would never sell. It is all a matter of legal representation and denial, and has always been. Besides what would be the purpose of having 4000 and 5000 channel capabilities when there are two dozen FTA channels in Ku band USA skies. Lets not even get started on HD capabilities for FTA channels... Is there even one true FTA hd out there (that is non-promotional)? Don't be stupid.

i can tell you have never experimented with true FTA by those comments.....dont forget that these recievers can be used for C-Band also.....
there are thousands of clear FTA channels out there on c and ku band (mostly c-band)......probably well over the 4,000 channel capacity.....
and yes there are HD clear FTA channels....not many right now, but more and more are popping up every day now......
i am not an idiot and im well aware that viewsat knows whats going on......im just saying that is not the real purpose of these recievers......
and if you are buying one just to get encrypted signals then of course there is going to come a day when your reciever "stops working"....and you have no right to complain when this happens......

Not many people have a BUD in their backyard anymore my friend, those have been out of fashion for a quite some time now. We may have no right to complain when it "stops working", but Viewsat won't have any right to stay in business either, I am pretty sure they will file for bankruptcy within a few months... Let's be real the whole reason why Viewsat/Sonicview/Pansat and everybody in the FTA business has (in an understatement) 95% of their business - is not a BUD, without us having to complain they will all run out of business. All those things they state on their websites is for legal purposes. I have personally sent flash-corrupted receivers to Viewsat previously and got them back repaired, with no question pertaining to firmware. Like I said it is a legal pose/denial inteded to avoid potential legal actions.
Cheers
