New: Need Help ViewSat MaxHD

I'm new to all of this. Just recently purchased a ViewSat MaxHD and am trying to get setup by myself, with little success. Right now I just have a Dish 500 ********** looking to upgrade later, but would like some help in getting setup.

You'll need to let us know a little about your set up .... what type of LNB's do you have on your dish (do they say Dish Pro) or DP on the back, are they two eyes in a single housing? etc ...

Have you loaded the latest file for your unit?

I believe its Dish 500 Pro. I have downloaded and installed the latest update file

Set your LNB type, to OCS-DP, then set your diseq setting to 119 to port 1, and 110 to port 2. This should get you set to start scanning...

You are going to want to set your ANT settings up like this:

LNB Type.....OSC-DP ------------ this may have to changed (depending on the LNB type)
LNB freq.....11250
22KHz....OFF
TP Freq.....12239
DiESqC 1.0.....Port1
Motor....OFF
Legacy SW....None

LNB Power......ON
LNB Type.....OSC-DP ------------ this may have to changed (depending on the LNB type)

Try that and report back your findings/status.

Note that after scanning the SAT, your unit may take 20 mins or so to come to life (do not change channels during this time).

Okay I set the ANT settings like you've said. I'm getting S72 Q78 on 119 and S 75 Q84 on 110 so hopefully thats what I need.

Quick question about adding channels. Do I need to run auto scan or blind scan?

And I hope I'm not being aggravating in asking "trivial questions". I appreciate the help you've given me.

That's not to bad for S & Q readings. Try the autoscan, a blind scan will cause duplicate channels. You should end up with around 650 channels give or take when done. P.S don't worry about asking any questions, we like to answer questions around here.

Ok thanks and I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ok that did it. I did however notice that some channels seemed to be missing (for example 105 thru 108). I haven't had much chance to look to see if any others were missing or not. It says I have 590 channels. Is these channels missing to due to signal strength?

No, they are likely missing die to the TP (transponder).

You'll have to visit LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite, and pull up the channel list for the sats and make notes about which channels are on which TP's then scan these TP's in.

Ok I've pulled up the list. Now when I'm scanning these TPs in, do I have to worry about duplicate channels being re-added?

Not if you add the TP's one by one. and then scan only that TP.

In the event you get doubles you can always delete them and start over (consider it practice).
