Looking for SV Tech
I just can not believe my new SV8000HD is working correctly. Checking with the dealer I purchased it from, they are a "sell it, get it out the door, and pass the problems on to the manufacturer" type of dealer. No support.
So before I contact the manufacturer and put up with the usual when dealing with them, (Mr. Green, Mr. Brown, and then the run around) I wonder if some one on this site is VERY knowledgeable on the technical workings of my receiver to post here or you may PM me. I would just like to get some information before I make the attempt to deal with the manufacturer.

Re: Looking for SV Tech
It has the HD board installed by the dealer or factory. Also tested(I hope).
When I am at any satellite and at any transponder with a SR of 20000 and listed as QPSK I get readings, when ever I move to any TP with a SR of 21500 and listed as Turbo(8) everything drops to ZERO. Even on transponders known to have active HD channels on them. This is one reason I can not ever get an HD channel. I receive many non HD channels. During scanning, every time it gets to an HD Transponder, it checks and lists "failed" and moves on. It just seems to me that I should get some kind of a reading.

Re: Looking for SV Tech
Do you have the 8PSK module (A-1 Board)? If not, that's your problem.

I would check the board and make sure it is plugged into the connections tight. Unplug the two connectors inside and then plug them back in. Also make sure the loop out is right...

Go to external module on your menu and verify that the external Q module is being detected

Yes, that is the board installed.
But jc7257's post may be the answer.

I did that check last night and found nothing loose. Still did the unplug and the re-plug. But! Your last statement: "Also make sure the loop out is right." That is something I am not sure about. Could that be the very short cable with an "F" connector on each end? If so, where does it connect to. There was NOTHING in the paper work that came with the unit about that small cable.

Re: Looking for SV Tech
I'm not sure if this is what your looking for. Try This link. It has a picture of the loop cable hook-up.

Well, HD is up and working. But anything only lasts for 30 seconds and goes out. Someday all will work well.

Re: Looking for SV Tech
They might be having iks server problems at this time, so the loop out was your problem on getting hd channels?

Re: Looking for SV Tech
Well, after taking the cover off the 8000 last night checking for loose connections, I noticed how it was attached to the back of the case. There is a note on the back of the unit that states it is reserved for a UHF antenna. That made me think a little. When jc7257 made the statement about the loop back cable, the light bulb in the head came on. So after connecting the cable, HD came in very well. I sure wish the manufacturer or the dealer would have dropped a note in the box telling what to do with that cable. I would like to cram it up their xxx. Guess they think everyone works in the tech department.
So with an hour this late afternoon out at the dish tweeeeeeking, I have much better signals. It sure would be nice to have micro adjustments for those blasted touchie LNB’s. The thickness of 5 layers of tinfoil under the edge of one of them can make a 20 increase in signal!
Thanks to all that stepped in to fix my problem. I will now go stand in the corner for being so stupid and not having a cable connected.
