This is an advanced setup for the iHub using Blackrock, Advanced Tor, Privoxy and your router.
All files needed are here:
Advanced Tor
Blackrock 2.6
Privoxy
Okay lets get started.
If you have the vidalia bundle installed the privoxy works instead of downloading this version, it also works on 64 bit vista. The vidalia tor software should not be used, use the advanced tor program instead.
1. Download and extract all 3 programs
2. Install Privoxy --> Install Advanced Tor
3. Start Privoxy, Advanced Tor & Blackrock
Advanced Tor Settings
Open advanced tor, there is a list on the left, at the top is "Proxy"... Click on "Proxy" and you will see "Local Proxy Port" make sure it is checked and set to "
9050".... Beside that you will see "Local Address" it should be set to "
127.0.0.1"
Blackrock Settings
In Blackrock you will see "IKS Server" This is where Blackrock looks for info from iHub server to send back to iHub. Enter one of the iHub server addresses there with port
1920. (example
77.93.75.115)
Here is a list of server Ip`s to use
You will also see "Proxy Server". In this section you will add the info from step 4. "Local address"
127.0.0.1 & "Local Proxy Port"
9050
Still in Blackrock you will see "Blackrock Server". This is where the iHub looks for information. This is to be set to the p.c Ip address (example "
192.168.0.100" and "Port
1920")
Click on socks5 proxy
Click on Auto Start
Make sure you save settings
How do I get my p.c IP?
- Click on Start and then on Run.
- Type in "cmd" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- A black window will open up. It's a DOS prompt. Don't be intimidated ;-)
- At the prompt, where the cursor is blinking, type in "ipconfig" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- Data will appear on the screen.
- Look for the Ethernet adapter IP address which should look similar to this:
192.168.1.100
- The Local Gateway is the IP address that you connect to the Internet through.
- To get out of DOS and back to Windows at the prompt just type "exit" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
Now I want to stop and add in some extra steps to help keep the connection between iHub and server as clean and efficient as possible.
These steps are based on a Dlink DIR-655 router but the same should be able to be done to most routers.
Open the router config page using the default router Ip in the address bar.
For the DIR-655 the default is 192.168.0.1
Once inside look for port forwarding. You can forward any traffic on the ports to either your p.c for blackrock.
So
forward port 1920 to the p.c and name it Blackrock or whatever you want.
On the STB open IP config.
Setting Type: Static
Use DNS: No
Server Ip: add in the P.C IP address here (example 192.168.0.100)
Server Port: add in the P.C port here (example 1920)
So here is what we have in Blackrock.
IKS Server addy is any of the iHub server addy`s with port number 1920
Proxy Ip addy is
127.0.0.1 port number
9050
P.C Ip addy is
192.168.0.100 port number
1920 (Also known as Server Ip and Server port in STB IP Config.)
Ihub asks blackrock ( or p.c ) for info at Ip addy
192.168.0.100 on port
1920. Blackrock in turn asks the iHub server for info at iHub server addy on port
1920. This info is routed through the port forwarding for the best connection.
If you want to be sure you are connecting to the ihub server you can open advanced tor and click on "Debug". There you will see the connection to the ihub server ip you put into blackrock for the "IKS Server".
If you want to be sure you are behind a proxy you can change your browser settings to use a proxy.
In Firefox:
Tools-->Options-->Advanced-->Connection-->Settings-->Manual Proxy Config-->Http Proxy and input 127.0.0.1 port 9050 click on use proxy server for all protocols.
After this is done google "my ip" and check the Ip addy.
