Re: Help Newbie CNX nano direct tv dish

What sats are you trying to get? DTV is a no go for sure. I doubt you'll be able to use the triple lnb. If you are trying to get Dn or B3V, you will need a DP500 setup.

Re: Help Newbie CNX nano direct tv dish

Danderson,

Joey32 is right, you cannot use the triple lnb w/intergrated switch on your nano. I don't believe you can use it on any fta stb.

Now if you do change your antenna for a dp 500 or any other, you will probably need to purchase the cnx dongle in order to pick up channels on 110 or 119, well, only if your looking for those. If not take a look at the true fta threads for great advice on how to find sats with channels that never blink.

Re: Help Newbie CNX nano direct tv dish

I figured it out
I guess this dish has a 22khz tone switch in it or somthing
When you go to channel search you have to turn the 22khz tone to the on setting
Iam now picking up alot of channels from alot of sat's without moving the dish but most of them are scrambled

Is this because of the new N3 encryption or am I missing somthing else?

Re: Help Newbie CNX nano direct tv dish

22k tone is for linear universal LNBs. drctv is completely different than what your cnx box can receive.

cnx does have a dongle for the nano. (It needs a power supply thingy???)

I take it you have connected to a dish that was already mounted. What does it say on the dish?

You are only pointed at 1 or 2 satellites. trust me

Yeah this dish was already mounted. (Direct TV)
I guess its setup to pick up sat's 101, 110 and 119 at hte same time.
It has three lnb's with 4 outputs.
This is what it says on the lnb's:

eagle DTVP3
triple feed multi satelite LNB
built in multi switch with 4 outputs
compatible with direct tv
phase III 18"x20" dish antenna

Here is a link with all the specs
www.eagleaspen.com/admin/product/fujian/file_39.pdf

It finds all the dirct tv channels on the sats but they are all scrambled
the only 2 channels I can get that are not scrambled are:
NASA
ANGEL
And I get a couple direct tv info channels.
I dont know if these are FTA channels or just uncrambled direct tv channels.
I cant pick up any FTA channels.

you will not be able to unscramble the dtv channels with a fta receiver
what you will need to do is get a dishpro twin lnb and mount to that dish and point at 110/119 and get the nano dongle that is on the market and load the dongle file

Your dish is pointed to Dave's stuff...in the wrong part of the sky for your needs.
Dave has his own 119 & 110...you want to point at Charlie's 110, 118, 119.
But Charlie just went to Nagravision3 (from Nag2) so you won't see it without the new iHub/Dongle for CNX Nano. ($89.) and a DSL router.

I suggest you buy a Dish500 w/2 LNBs ($100. eBay)
And use my links below to set your dish. (dishpointer.com)

If you get another Dish500 and point it to 82 & 91 you can get even more from Canada that are open now.

We also have other free satellites you can point at & get right now for free. >>>
