CNX Nano ...Recording time?
I just purchased my Cnx Nano receiver and love it! One question and hope someone can help me with this is when I start recording how long can I record if I were to use a 16gb usb stick? If anyone knows please inform me the breakdown for the time of recording per gb.
Thanks!

Its about an hour to one gig.
Usually 1 hour equals 1 gig or depending on how long the program your recording is. Remember to FAT32 your usb stick before you start recording, it will save you lots of trouble later. Good Luck and safe recording!

Thankyou for that information Sony7129. Could you please liberate a bit about how to fat32 my usb stick before recording as you stated and or send me to a forum topic about that.
Thanks again, cricket4462

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
You can format / re-format your Stick Drive using this utility:
http://www.abadss.com/forum/460-cool...rmat-tool.html
First click on usb to highlight, then go to desktop, right click on bin, then click copy...go back to usb, right click on paste....that should do it good luck
And thanks Arb for deleting the other post, lol I accidently hit enter when I was typing the first post and then I didn't see it anymore.

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
Be aware also, that the nano has only a limited PVR...It will not play files larger than 2gig.

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
Okay, thanks everyone for the help. I purchased a 2 gig usb stick then changed it to FAT 32 and never tried it yet but when I use it for recording in my CNX Nano I will get 2 hours of recording. One hour per GB.
Thanks, cricket4462

You do realize that you will never have the full 2gig to record on? 2gig is the unformatted size, formating takes up space.

After formating the usb stick to FAT 32, I did see where it has now only 1.86 of space left for recording. I take it that that is 1.86 of gig?

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
yeah.
but keep your eyes open, you can score the 8 gig sticks now for under 20 bucks at places.
the prices are dropping on lip sticks lately like crazy iv been noticing.
shoot, when i payed 20 bucks for my 4 gig-only a couple months ago i thought i scored really well lol.now you can double that size for about the same money already.its great.
try out that stick though for a bit.see how ya like the recordings.
if you do,you may want to just drop the ball and grab a hard drive.you can get a decent sized hard drive for 80 bucks or so,and record loads at a time between taking to the pc to convert/author/burn.
warning ya though.like it to much, and you will be trying to convince the wife to get the duo next.
this stuff's additive.you have been warned.

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
Thanks arboristman for the information and I have noticed that the memory sticks are certainly dropping quick in price. I just bought a 16 gig on ebay for 19 bucks for storing all my mp3's. I just recorded almost 2 hrs on my 2 gig memory stick and all went well except that the color when recording was flashing different colors. Also Im not sure if the CNX Nano can record more than 2 gig at a time as "Sgt" stated that it will not play files larger than 2 gig.

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
It can and will record more, just can't play them back.
Is that a Sony perchance? They color issue seems to only affect cerain TVs, mostly Sonys. You could try a different connection method. Or try selecting a different color scheme....don't remember the button, but it can be accessed through the menu also. Seems like button was on botton left......
Just a couple things to try.....

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
Thanks again for the info Sgt. Its a Hitachi............ I will try a different connection and mess with the color scheme to see if that corrects the color flashing issue.

Re: CNX Nano ...Recording time?
It's not the length of time recorded but the file size. 1 hour = 1 gig - give or take
So 2 hrs could be fine or might not....There is some variance in transport stream that will affect the recorded size slightly.
