Dish aimed at 91W, sat name showing up as Galaxy instead of Nimiq
hi everybody,
i have a dish500 aimed at 91/82. currently i only care about receiving 91. i am getting a strong signal on every transponder but the satellite name is identifying as "galaxy 91w." however, when i scan the channels, i'm getting Nimiq channels. what's going on? should i just leave it as is? is there a problem causing me to pick up galaxy instead of nimiq?

What receiver are you running ... please provide Brand and Model #
Is the Galaxy name showing in the upper right hand corner of the ANT set up screen?

Galaxy 25 is 97W so you might be a few (i.e. 6 deg) too west
Galaxy 26 is 93W so you might be just 2 degrees too west.

yeah galaxy 17 but there is nothing for ku band.
you may have a universal LNB and you're using lnb freq 10750.

Re: Dish aimed at 91W, sat name showing up as Galaxy instead of Nimiq
thanks for the replies everybody. i'm using a sonicview 360 elite receiver. i don't believe i'm aimed wrong because when i scan channels, i get BEV channels. it's just the NAME of the satellite reads "Galaxy 91W."
the LNB is an old dish legacy one. it's the one where 119 and 110 are on separate LNBs.
the channels are coming in fine, and i am able to watch BEV programming despite the name reading Galaxy 91W. is this something i should worry about or try to fix?

also, the LNB frequency is at 11250.
and yes, the name is showing up in the upper right corner of the installation screen, the same place where i see "echostar 7" and such when i change to those sats. 91W is the only one whose name is incorrect.

Check you dish settings by visiting www.dishpointer.com and punching in your Zip Code.

Do you have an SV iHub ethernet adapter installed on your unit?

Re: Dish aimed at 91W, sat name showing up as Galaxy instead of Nimiq
yes, i'm watching bev on my sonicview 360e with ihub installed.
creativegenius, i believe the dish settings are correct because bev channels are indeed coming in. i'm watching M on channel 300 right now. i'm just wondering if i should worry about the satellite name being wrong. and am i missing out on channels because of this?
also, i did indeed check out my dish settings and it is pointed correctly.

Re: Dish aimed at 91W, sat name showing up as Galaxy instead of Nimiq
Might simply be an error in the SAT info file. But since it appears to be working ... go with it Glad to hear you are up!

Re: Dish aimed at 91W, sat name showing up as Galaxy instead of Nimiq
Poe...I am getting the same title for 91W with a 8000 and IHub, and it is Bev channels. It must be in the Sat file, but your not going crazy, I have the same thing.
