Dish Skew
Hey guys im installing a new dish and going to attempt to point at 91 and not 82. Im using a dish500 with dish pro lnb, my question is, do I need to skew my dish. I'm mountiing it to the side of my facia board on my house, currently the skew is set at 90. The reason I ask this is because I just got done reading a sticky that stated I didnt need to...BTW i'm in California.
Thanks,
TB

Re: Dish Skew
Look at dishpointer.com input your address and select multi-lnb 81,91 that will give you the skew.

Re: Dish Skew
I thought since I was only trying to catch one bird that I didnt have to worry about the skew, but want sure. I went to dishpointer and found out what m elevation was and I got that set, so now all I have to do is is my azimuth w/o a compass, or maybe I should buy a cheapy?

Re: Dish Skew
If you have your dish set up for 119/110 then go a few degrees to your left looking directly at your dish. About 10 degrees. Just move the dish from the position of 119 slightly towards your left till you see the Q coming through. Then max on it and then adjust elevation for more maxing. Good luck bud.

Re: Dish Skew
hey TB if you have a visual to your TV you just follow the other dish you may have around and you'll get it easy.
or maybe a handy sat signal finder(8$ or less).

Re: Dish Skew
Hey TB, before you do anything with your dish, remember to get a "sharpie" pen and mark lines across the settings where DN is (basically the elevation and the skew) so that if you ever need to go back to DN then it will be easy to re-point your dish by lining up the ink marks. Get a different color sharpie and mark the B3V settings....that way you can switch back and forth easily.
Good luck!
(sharpies are weather proof)
