Nimiq 1
I have a DN500 plate with a single LNB dual output that I'm trying to test for the last couple of days but had no luck,
I ended buying a Sat Finder tool and aim my dish to nimiq 1 but the best I have had is to get S = 86 and Q = jumping between 0 and 50 but never got steady to locked the satellite.
This is what I've tried :
-lock my elevation and and move my azimuth trying to find 91W --> No luck same result.
-lock my Azimuth and move my Elevation same result.
My sat finder is weaseling like crazy but my Q never gets steady.
What Im doing wrong?

Re: Nimiq 1
use the dishpointer link in my signature and enter your zip and get the coordinates to start with
then run cable from lnb to receiver and use it to zero in the signal
btw what receiver are you using

Re: Nimiq 1
I'm using a SV premier and a circular LNB that came with my dish, It was used before to point at 61.5 W.
Now I want to use it to test 91W

Re: Nimiq 1
LNB freq 11250, is a norm but if you're getting floating Q readings it might be because you have the wrong lnb type picked in your antenna settings.

Re: Nimiq 1
I have tried first standard then OCS-DP , Legacy twin and legacy quad all of them are giving me the same result. LNB freq 11250 and TP freq 12224. actually I have moved my TP freq all over the spectrum but had no luck

Re: Nimiq 1
Are you sure the lnb you changed is a circular lnb and not a linear?

leave the TP at 12224....my guess is you are aimed improperly.....you are probably hitting the Dirtv sat at 101W this will cause the Q to jump like you are saying.....you need to aim slightly east of this and possibly up or down a few degrees (this will depend on your location)....

Re: Nimiq 1
it sounds like you either have the wrong lnb or your lnb type is wrong, the advice above is good, post back if you need any more help and let us know how you are doing.

Re: Nimiq 1
From what you have indicated you should have the following as your Antenna Settings for 91W.
Satellite: 91W Nimiq 1,3.
LNB power: on
LNB type: single or Standard
LNB frequency: 11250
TP : 12224
22khz.: off
Diseqc : off
Motor: disable
Legacy switch: off.
When you use that Sat finder, if it picks up ANY Satellite it will squeel like a Weasel...LOL.
Take it off and check your TV to watch the Q line come up and go green.
The trick is to wroughly set your Azimuth (Magnetic) to where it should be, your Elevation to what is recommended for your location (according to Dishpointer).
Then slowly move the dish left or right till you see the Q reading and then move till you get it to maximum. Lock the bolts. Now adjust the elevation slowly up or down to increase and maximize the Q reading. Now you should see a confirmation flag of 91W on the right side of the screen.
You are now done.

Re: Nimiq 1
It is a Circular LNB that is required.
What is your Zip code or your location so I could give you the exact directions?

Re: Nimiq 1
OK I have a DN500 dish with a DN single LNB with double output used before to point at 61.5 W, I already check my Elevation and Azimuth with dishpointer . My question is : would that LNB worked with nimiq1 ?

if you used the LNB before for 61.5 then that same LNB will work for 91W, assuming the LNB is not defective in any way......
LNB freq 11250
TP 12224
run a straight cable from the LNB to the receiver (no switches).....if you have no obstructions like you say then there is no reason why you cant pull in 91W if aimed properly......jumping Q like you say means your hitting the wrong sat.....

Re: Nimiq 1
another thing you can try......
swing the dish further west (and probably down a bit, depending on your location) and try to lock onto 110W (use the exact same dish/antenna settings).....this will at least tell you the LNB, your connections, and the cable is good.....

wether or not the satellite is "up" or "down" doesnt really matter, he should still be able to aim the dish and get a "lock" onto it.....
