star choice dish with LNB from 18 inch dish

Hi there
I need help here please. I moved from Toronto to Labrador city Newfoundland province last year up in north. I have 18-inch dish with one LNB, which was performing fantastic in Toronto for about one year for giving me 119 and 110 perfectly. I moved to Labrador and for couple of weeks I was watching the NIMIQ 91 here on this 18-inch dish although the signal was fine for BEV FTA, and then it all shifted to NAGRA 3 stuff. My question is, someone gave me 36-inch oval shape star choice dish with two linear amplifier LNBs, (I know nothing about these linear LNBs, and have not yet tried this dish. My question is can I try this star choice dish with the same LNB that I was using with 18 inch dish, my 18 inch dish is not catching other satellites here, may be due to trees and houses here but someone told me the star choice oval dish 36 inch can have good strength. Can you please tell me which satellites should I point to for getting best or good reception?
Please if someone can give me suggestions about it, I will appreciate that.
Thanks in advance.

Star choice has a great dish. I see them down here in FL from time to time. The LNBs will not work due to the spacing. You can put different LNBs on the dish. They may sell LNB brackets for this or you may need to you the magic lnb bracket.

Yes, you can mix and match ANT and LNBs; you may have to adjust the LNB mount to ensure the strongest signal, but no reason it won't mount and work just fine; you might try mounting the BEV (circular) LNB beside the linear LNBs on the STAR dish then you could pull in both DSS and FTA birds

Re: star choice dish with LNB from 18 inch dish

some one in this thread mentioned majic bracket for lnb, trust me thats the best option for this gigantic 36"er. you can get atleast 4 sats from you location. first point to 119 for a reference, once you get the max S/Q, tighten all the nuts, just move around the remaining lnb's one by one to get the sat, no need to move the dish anymore. the reception on these kind of dish is so amazing with a minor effort

Re: star choice dish with LNB from 18 inch dish

thanks for replying quick, i also have been given the LNB with this 36 inch star choice dish, but they are two cylinderical things joing togather at the end that were pointing towards the dish, each one has 75E word on it and it has sticker which says"amplifier" and each has one inlet for the cable to connect and other sides of these cyclinderical things i have plastic covered sides which i think point towards the dish, now should i use the normal LNB that i was using in my 18 inch dish for 110 and 119 satellites or these cylinderical things will be better, i have no idea, please let me know and i really appreciate all in this forum as its very quick.
thanks a bunch.
