Receiving 82West in S. Florida
I have a friend in South Florida who has a 1 meter dish that he used to receive 82W in South Florida. He said several months back he could no longer get 82 west in South Florida because Bev switched to a new sat and the cone changed farther north.
Does anyone know if it still is possible to receive 82west in South Florida and if so what size dish is needed?
If not does anyone know if 91West can be received from South Florida? He is trying to get the HD channels that he lost that were on 82W.
Thanks in advance

It can be received but what receiver can get it is the question. Right now nfusion and some SonicViews have some things working.

Boy that was fast boboisno1. Thanks for your response. I'm sorry I did not elaborate enough.
He has a SV8000HD with Ihub so What I believe he is interested in is if it is still possible to get 82W in south Florida?

Yes I think they might have a few, it's been hard to keep track of what receiver gets what nowadays. At any rate SV has been anding channels all the time the only problem is they freeze up and sometimes go out for a few minutes.

Yes I agree. From what I have read it seems like SV is getting more channels all the time.
Just curious if someone is actually capable of receiving 82W in South Florida, after Bev implemented their new Sat for 82W?

Re: Receiving 82West in S. Florida
82w in Florida?
Not gonna happen.
Since B3V tightened up the footprint several months ago when they put a new sat in that spot, most people in the lower 48 are no longer capable of getting a signal from 82w, especially that far south.
I'm in Northern California and cannot get a signal on any TP on 82w with a 1 Meter dish.
In other words, you're not going to get a signal from 82w in Florida, regardless of dish size.
Sorry, but that's the facts.

Re: Receiving 82West in S. Florida
Also, there are no HD channels on 91w, although it may be possible to get the signal in Florida.
Only HD options for those out of the 82w footprint are mainly on 61.5w and 129w, and that is if a N3 workaround is found.

Thanks Sky_Pilot for your help.
That is what I needed to know. So 82W in South Florida is out of the question and 91W does not have any HD. My friend had said that he liked the equator channel on 82W and charlie does not carry it anymore. I guess for the fun of it I could point his 1 meter dish at 91W to see if it can be picked up this far south but No hd.
Any other Bev sat that has HD that can be received in the South?

B3V only has those two birds, 82w and 91w
Take a look at lyngsat dot com to see what's up there.
If he already has a 1 Meter dish, I would put it on a motor (The DG-280 PowerTech motor is excellent) and start exploring the sky.
There are sats on DN that carry HD programming, such as 61.5w and 129w
And there are True FTA channels on 123w.
I wish 82w reached further south as I know plenty of people who would like to access their programming, but since Nimiq 4 has been moved into that space, the footprint has been reduced significantly and is focused more on Canada and less on the US.

Great idea. I'll check with lynsat to see what HD channels are on 61.5 and 129W. I do believe he is out of luck with the Equator channel as Charlie does not have it. I spoke with him about a motor on it and he said he tried a motor several years back and had a hard time with it . Could never get it to work well.

Re: Receiving 82West in S. Florida
They have some HD on some of the TFTA sats. Try LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite

I did look at Lyngsat link you gave me and there is a world of information on that site. The only problem is I am not yet up to speed on Lyngsat yet.
I have a friend who is in South Florida. I just spoke with him he has a windguard 1 meter dish already up pointing to 82W( no worky no more) and a motor and a Invacom quad lNB. Seems like he has everything he needs. I have a Birdog meter so if its out there we can find it.
All I need is a little guidance to see what TFTA sats are available in South Florida and what HD programming they provide.
He is also open to purchasing a Sonicview 8000HD with Ihub. He already has these sats 61.5, 110, 119, 121. He has the 1 meter dish that he can use to get another sat.
Thanks for your help.
