Thanks for the warm welcome !!
I was reading other forum posts and is it true that I can move the dish and maybe pick up other sats in the sky and maybe have a chance at television??? Told ya I was NEW. We have viewsat ultra lite. With a Dish 500 and Live in fort myers florida.
I hope someone can shed some light on the big mystery of FTA. With a little help I should catch on very quickly.
Thanks

Re: SOOO NEW & Flustered
The only options you have are to get one of the receivers with the hubs, or get a 30"plus dish with a linear LNB and catch sats 123W and 97W which are free and unencrypted

Re: SOOO NEW & Flustered
We have a Dish 500 and it has 2 "marshmallows" as the guy that sold it to us called them.
We got our viewsat just 8 days before all the blackouts happened so I havent had any of this equipment long enough to know what I have or what I need or really what any of the lingo stands for when people are posting. I have been reading almost everyday to get informed and learn.
Any help would be sooo appreciated!
Thanks from the newbie!

Re: SOOO NEW & Flustered
viewsat are a great reciever but they are not up right now with everyelse for a cardless fix .. really the only thing you can and i know it sucks is put the viewsat to the side and buy a sonicview 360 premier and a ihub and hook it up to the net if you want up to you but that is really the only option right now .. .. keep the viewsat though if a cardless bin comes out it will be working again
sonicview works right now on some channesl via iks (internet keys sharing )basically you will hook it to a router and you internet and it will give you some tv that way approx 300 channels on bev and less on dn but i think they are adding all the time ..
do some more reading here and you will know more about all that is happening

Hello and i live in the port richey fl area and i get (61.5on dtv dish) 110 118/119 121 on a super dish. tho all is black now. its all a matter of having patience and waiting for the coder's to finish their part. it might take some time since the last time we went thru this on n1 to n2. n2 was leaked out by a dn employee. I dont think n3 is going to be leaked out since the providers will be keeping on eye on the source code very carefully this time around. But you never know what might happen. just sit back and if you like testing get a sg2100 motor for your dish and do some testing. i for one will be getting a motor my self and plan on seeing whats out their in the way of free tv. im sure their are plenty of satellites that have n2 running and dont need any type of software to reveive them.. hopefully i can get enought free channels to keep me busy the rest of the summer, till someone ends up posting a fix. good luck with you new hobby..

EPG - Electronic Program Guide
F Connector - the screw on cable connectors used in satellite
Firmware- Software in the Flash Memory that allows the receiver to run, can be changed by the user via the .BIN .
FLASHED – Software program that reads the .bin, and writes it to the receivers flash memory, through a computer and written via a data cable or Flash drive.
FTA - Free To Air, Non-encrypted channel (digital signal)

The first is the 11.7-12.2 GHz band known as FSS (Fixed Satellite Service), usually Linear signal transmitting. There are 22 FSS Ku-Band satellites in orbit over North America today. They range in power from 20-45 watts per transponder, requiring a 3-5 foot antenna for clear reception. The 12.2 - 12.7 GHz segment is known as BSS (Broadcast Satellite Service), usually Circular signal transmitting.
