Pointing dish 500 + to 110, 118.8 and 119 in Canada - ABA DSS

I just bought 311 dish network receiver with 30 inch eliptical dish in Florida and trying to set it up in Toronto, Canada.

I get 25 - 30 % signal on 110 and 119, however I am unable to get 118.8.
Account is registered in Florida and I bought it to watch international channels which are on 118.8, that you can not get here in Canada.

This is 500 plus set consisting with one double lnb (including sircular) and one single for 110.

Is my dish to small or is 118.8 spotbeamed.

Please advice,

25%..30% signal???

you will need much more and a quality above 75% on 119 to be able to get 118.

so it is sub receiver what switch do you have hopefully dp34 or 44. dishq switch not going to work for this. you need to get 119 up over 75% Q. then do check switch. After check switch is done the other sat follow and you will see guide down load window after download is done you got tv. some international channel you can pick with 45% Q. but others you need high Q.......... good luck.letus know if ya still have a prob.

I get signal strengh 28 on 119 and 36 on 110
118.8 shows CONN on the switch but the signal is red and shows 110 under

Keep in mind this is a legacy receiver, so does not display, quality like FTA

you need to setup the same switch port for 119 and 118(like both on port 1)
and 110 on port 2.
looks like something is wrong with your setup.
you shouldnt get 110 pointed to 118.

yes you r right it only gonna show signel strength shoot i should mention sig strength in my last post insted of Q. ok now you got some sig in the bar and you might see sat is not lock if you got over 60% sig. then do a check switch.

Thanks Tiger;
I got dp34 switch and use signal meter on the roof connecting 110 and 119 to meter, I was thinking that since 118.8 is in between, catching these two would give me 118.8
The best I could get is 60 for 110 and 39 for 119 on the meter at the same time.
Also I need to be carefull when changing settings on the receiver as this is registered in USA and I could not just call DISHNET to reset it.

yes you get locked on 119 you can get locked on 118 but you needa better reading on it.

i know do not ever call dishnetwork for help. have you got your check switch done go to dish pointing and select 110 now hopefully you see green signel. if it is still red the do check switch. i m pretty sure you will get bunch of international if not all.

so tomorrow I will connect 119 only or both 118 and 119 to the meter?
when you say LOCKED, is it happening after I do a check switch?

what you mean both???
you get 118/119 using the same LNB.

locked = when you get the sat name on the screen

did another check switch, no change, 118 is CONN but no signal

yes, this is big LNB with 2 connectors, also I borrowed this meter that has 2 inputs and shows 2 signals at the same time

okay but you should have 2 lnbs.
one circular(11250) to get 110.
one circular(10750) to get 118/119

also the 2 outputs from each LNB means you can use it with 2 receivers.

yapp gib this lnb is with chrystal eye.with two out put for 118 and 119

And 110 is seprate connect with bracket single eye right side of it.if you standing behind the dish
