Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?
I have a similar situation, I have left over dishes from Directtv and I want to know if they will work or if I need to get other dishes. I don't have the oval dish or multiple lnbs. The setup they gave me was 2 round dishes each with their own lnb. Can I use these and can I use this setup to my advantage since I have 2 separate dishes?
Thanks guys

yes you may use the dishes only. you will require circular lnb's that use the 11250 frequency to pick up dishnetwork & bell. they are very inexpensive.

yes the round dtv dishes with the single eye legacy lnbs will work to pick up 1 circular signal broadcasted sat such as 110,119,129,82,91 and so forth

Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?
You'll also need to run a coax cable from each lnb to a diseque switch and then to your receiver..if the lnb's on your direct dishes are universal lnbs those will work fine

I have all the switches and coax that dtv used to setup the system. Is there any reason why I can't use those switches?

Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?
a fta receiver will not work the dtv switches
there is a cheap disq switch that comes with each receiver but you can get a real good heavy duty chieta brand for about $15

Yes. I myself am, (was), using a directv dish with a single lnb. Works just fine. Now for N3.

Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?
So the LNBs from dtv that I have can't be used and I have to replace them? Should I ditch my setup that I have altogether and get a dish with multiple LNBs? If not, how should I aim my dishes to get the max amount of channels? Sorry for all the ?'s I'm new to this whole thing.

Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?
if your dish and lnb looks like this but says dtv instead of dn then it will work but it will only pick up 1 sat you will need 2 of them to get both dn sats

Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?
I find when upgrading to HD that this Dish is the way to go for 61.5 or 129 Sat, rather than getting the big DN 1000 series. Do note your LNB's are single output or dual? Disecq works well with singles but when you go to 2 receivers, 2 Diseqc do not work well together so use SW-21's. Also can use on the Bev birds
