Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

The LNB will not work, but the dish will. You can get a 1000.2 lnb and cut the arm or get a Daucer(LNB Bracket)

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

You can get an eliptical dish 18 x 24 and add an exta lnb to it (in addition to the LNB's you have now) and bring in 110, 119 and 129 all on one neat and tidy dish.

I am currently using a Dish500 with no problems. I get 110 & 119 but I have HD capabilities and would like to get 129 and obviously cannot. i DO HAVE A DTV eliptical dish that I assume I could use with my OCS-DP to get HD and 129 but I'm confised with how I'd connect the two. What do you mean by "cut the arm".

Thanks in advance for your help

heck, I'll do it right now. Are we talking exactly two inches, or does it just have to be a ball park two inches.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

I know for a fact you can get 121 using a DTV Phase 3. A couple of semi-related questions I have waited a month to be answered in the appropriate spot- All of the channels say 480i even though they have a HD receiver and 8 psk, why? Second, can any one confirm they get 110 and 119 w/ DTV satellite. THird, what if someone does not have any of 700 series channels that pick up the EPG for 121? Thanks/

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

I have no idea what you are talking about, but would really like to know if I should specifically chop two inches or a ballpark two inches off of my DTV arm and mount my dp-plus. It sounds like you should start a new thread for your questions.

Meanwhile I'll wait for Landscapeman or Cisco123 to answer my cutting inches question.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

Yo need to cut the arm, only if using a triple LNB for 110, 119 and 129.
For a single DP or dual LNB you should not cut the arm. The single LNB eye should come out the same place as the dtv LNB.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

Ok now I still have my original question.....exactly two inches or a ballpark two inches, and that also leads me to the questions of why you don't need to cut the arm for a single or dual LNB, and will I still be able to pull in 110, 119, and 129 with a dual LNB.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

with a dual lnb you will be able to receive 1 of the mentioned sats...one eye=1 sat.
i cut my slimline right where it starts to flare out, drilled my locator holes, then stuck the 1000.2 lnb on it...heres the link to the thread i started when i was attempting this project.
http://www.abadss.com/forum/29-fta-a...-1000-2-a.html
you could do a google search on this subject...there are many posts describing this modfication

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

An eye is needed for each satellite location.
A single eye LNB can be single - with one coax hook or dual - with 2 coax hooks, but still one satellite location.
A two eye LNB having 2 LNBs within the same enclosure is for two satellite locations and is called a Twin LNB.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

I have a Dish 500 with E7 at port 1 and E10 at port 2, all is good. What I want is to get 129 which what I think by the previous posts is that I need another LNB for 129 and/or an eliptical dish. I do have a DTV eliptical like the one pictured above and that is why I was asking about how to cut the "two inches", but also my initial question about aiming further to the west for 129 was to see if I could somehow pull in 129 with my dual LNB by tweaking the dish a bit to the west to get 129. This now doesn't sound possible and my nest bet as I see it (please correct me if I am wrong) is to transfer the dual plus a single to the DTV eliptical so I have three lnb's (dual & single) and cut down the arm of the DTV dish. Do I have that correct?

Thank you all again.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

Using the dtv dish with your existing twin LNB for 110/119 and another LNB for 129 would complicate things.

The suggested alternative with cutting the arm was meant for using the integrated DPPus triple LNB (used for dish 1000.2).

I would rather suggest leaving the dish 500 as is for 110/119 and having the dtv dish for 129 only with one eye LNB. This would also result with best performance.

Re: Direct tv dish for dish network setup

Here is an Application Note outlining just what to do:

http://www.abadss.com/forum/102-faq-...-dish-fta.html

Read it over carefully before cutting anything, read twice, cut once

That makes very good sense to me. Sometimes I tend to overcomplicate/overthink things. Thank you so much.

with that setup you would get SCREAMING quality on 129. it would also be simpler that having to cut the arm and finding where to cut those darn locating holes. those holes were the trickiest part for me.
