Sound/Video issues
I am wandering what the best format is to stream movies. Since the update to .16 R2 I have my audio set up to play through HDMI and Dolby Digital. I have several types of movie formats. I have some mkv and avi and a few others. Some of them play fine, others play video fine, but no audio. I switched the audio setup to "Analog/PCM" and the sound works, but the stream is so awefull it is unwatchable. It freezes and freezes like crazy. I can't seem to find any similarity to the movies.
I am guessing it is a issue the 4000 is having with the audio format or something. What format works well for you guys. I get some stuff from Vuze, so i want to be sure i get the right stuff...OR is there a download or some sort of fix by getting codecs?
Thoughts?

Re: Sound/Video issues
I did turn it off. When I switched of over to analog/PCM...the sound does play at that point, but the video freezes like crazy, to the point it is unwatchable.
So basically with Dolby Digital on Video is great, no sound
WIth Dolby off - sound great, video is bad.

Re: Sound/Video issues
they did fix the HDMI with R2. I also can get the sound when i switch to analog, but it won't play teh video....thats why i was kinda wandering what formats you guys have found work best when streaming. This only happens when i try to stream video.
I also thought maybe it was an issue with transfer speed, so using the File manager ferture i actually moved a movie over to my HDD. Same result so it isn't the transfer rate from the other PC.

Re: Sound/Video issues
Update -
So i ahve bene trouble shooting this since the inital post. CaptiveWorks forum was pretty helpful for a while, but seems they are takign a break teh last couple days.
Anyway - the r2 update did add an option for audio over HDMI. It appears (for me anyway) it does not work if the video has 5.1 sound. If you go into the Admin section and change Dolby Digital to Analog/PCM it will work but my videos wouldnt' stream without freezing. So I switched back to the good ole fiber cable, turned off 'enable audio through HDMI' and all is good. I still get my DTS 5.1 surround and my video isn't freezing. Maybe they jsut need to tweak the new feature. I would love to have it all come through HDMI, but for now this is what I am doing and am happy.
Hope this helps someone.
