Can cw4000HD get IKS
I have been reading all over and it seems that some IKS stuff is working. Does anyone know if this is an option with the cw4k. I am not very familiar with this (IKS i mean) so am not sure.
- If answer is 'Yes' - where can i learn about it?
- If answer is 'No' - D@mn!

actually that looks cool. So it is very similar to cardsharing, but appears to be quite easier. I have been trying to learn abotu CS, but it is confusing.

Yeah, the cheapest Ihub/receiver setup is about two and a half. The HD setup is about five and a half.

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
oh really, so the prices i saw for the receives is in addition to the hub...i still need a regular box (no HD, no gimmicks) for the bedroom. I now got my mind going. Maybe get a cheaper one for the regular Tv then possibly have it when times get tuff (like now)
Currently I just plugged my cable right into the box since i get some channels with my internet subscription...just HD locals, but with torrents i think i can prolly survive....i should stop spending on these toys and stick with this......so many dilemas..hahahaha

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
Bro I've got a 3000 hd, go on the net and watch tv. Lots of good stuff, do a search for internet tv, in the meantime my favorites are ATDHE.net click live tv or sports at the top and justin tv for ufc's and boxing PPV's. I think you'll be pleasently suprised.

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
the othr thing you can do is, if you happen to have a cable connection available, then you can hook that up to your ATSC card and you will be able to watch unencrypted channels. I happen to get more than just the local channels, but not too many. Just another idea.

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
i tried that, but i can't get anything when i scan. I do have the ATSC card in there. The manual made it seem that it should work right away, but i got nothing from it at all. Not even the local. I had to select 'Cable' from the Antenna menu to get any channels.
Did i miss something?

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
I decided to erase all of the channels that I had saved (both satellite channels and local channels) and then I went to cable and then I scanned for new channels. This took about 20 minutes because there is about 500 tp's and I allowed the system to scan every tp. I ended up getting about 174 channels.

i did as well, the exact same thing, but only about 10 or 11 of my channels are legitimate. The other ones (Video Channel 1, Video Channel 2 and so on) are just black screens. Did you actually get some chanels all the way through?
I used the 'Cable' Setting under Antenna since i couldn't get ATSC to work. Which did you use? I am thinking i should be able to use ATSC, but i never get any results when scanning.

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
No, I mainly got channels in between tp 80-175. I also got allot of Video 1 etc. but surprisingly allot of then worked. I just wanted to make sure that I was not missing any channels and that is why I let it scan all the way through. I used the "cable" setting to scan for the channel.

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
alrighty, looks like someone TRULY needs to cover this, once and for all.
There IS a "IKS" solution as you call it, however, we need to remember WHAT IKS really is. IKS is the sharing of a card via the Internet, to share the keys from the card(s), such as NFusion is doing, and also SV with their Dongle solution. There is also whats known as the IKSLinger, which can be plugged directly into receiver by 3ch0*, however it is even more illegal to use one of these as it "modifies" the unit software, or atleast what it's designed to do.
the CW4000HD IKS solution is actually out there, but it is setup as a Private network where only a few people know of the IP to setup for, compared to the Public option that we're so accustomed to under NFusion's reign.
So your answer is now:
1. Setup up your own private network, which you would collect a fee from those participating....the more people to cover the cost, the better.
2. Be real daring and setup a hidden IP and from there, broadcast all the channels you got to the world, and put out your own "CW Fix", to which i'm sure CW would be VERY grateful for, and would probably thank you for slightly boosting their sales for the time being.

Re: Can cw4000HD get IKS
Cardsharing and IKS are very different in the way that they work, but they both give you the same end result. Captiveworks does not offer/support IKS but is capable of cardsharing. The main difference between the two is that IKS requires an up front cost (hub) in order to deliver the control words, so no monthly charge. Cardsharing on the other hand does not require any up front cost (no hub's or equipment to purchase) but does require a monthly subscription to a private network, which normally runs about $25.00 a month. IKS is more of a public server, cardsharing is private server. IKS you must depend (and wait) for the company to open/view channels. Cardsharing is smaller group and easier to share/open up channels that you would like to view.
Again, Captiveworks does not support IKS, but does support cardsharing.
Hope that this helps to clear up any confusion.
