CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
This only happens on sports or live events, but the video freezes and then picks up 15 seconds later. I have tried recording it and playing it back and I don't have this issue. Signal quality is not an issue. Is there a way to work on a delay? This is very frustrating!

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
Press pause then play wile watching the event it will make a short delay for processing and should play smoothly.
I think you can also just press the play wile watching an event for a shorter delay.
Enjoy.

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
thank you. It seems to play fine when I play the recording back. I agree that if I cause a delay it may work. I often have to back out of the application to get it to unfreeze. I didn't know if the box was overheating or what. Could this be a grounding or surge issue?

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
This issue has been around for a long time.
What update version are you using?
No i do not think this is a grounding issue.

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
I updated to the latest bios 2.5 and I am using software version CW-LMC 1.0.1.16.
So you are having the same issue with sports locking up all the time? I disabled my weather update and I tried to watch the replay of the nascar race at bristol and it keeps locking up. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? The Captiveworks forrum acts like I am the only one having this issue. What good is an hd box if it locks up every 2 minutes on sports?

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
I am located in Houston, so I don't get that local channel. I am using 6392, which is my fox affiliate. Every HD channel I watch that has sports locks up. I have a 1 terabyte hard drive. Do you think that is the issue? How would you suggest I trouble shoot this? I have :
CW4000
Diseq 4 x 1 switch
Should I do the ISO restrore then update to latest software? I wish I had your software settings saved. Want to compare?

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
It shouldn't be a hard drive issue, I have a 1.5 tb in mine. I havn't had this problem, but when I did the upgrade I lost my sound to my HD. If you are having a delay with freezing, check and make sure that your signal is over 80%. the HD needs a more quality signal to sink the timing

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
chasek
I believe I am close enough to Huston to tune this channel in and test it if I knew the satellite and transponder.
I tried to find that channel on LyngSat I searched 110, 119, 61.5, 129, 148, 121, 118.7 and 72.7 and did not find that channel # listed.
I found the listings for Huston channels on 119 CH 8370 through CH 8378 but not in HD.
I don’t think your settings will compare to my dish farm settings although if I have all the info I should be able to suggest the settings you need.
CW still has some work to do to complete the firm wear on this incredible receiver meanwhile we work together to keep it working well.

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
yes, We should work together and help one another out. I am going to check the ohms on the cable both ways today. I also found out that out of my 3 cables running from the lnbs 2 of them were rg59 instead of rg6. I am also thinking about getting a dp44 switch with power to help with the switching issues from satellite to satellite for programmed recordings overnight. We do have a great box and hd will be going to nagra 3 in April, which means going down. I am chasek3525 on yahoo im. I will keep you posted with what I did today.

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
Are your LNBs dp if not don’t use dp switch.
I prefer to keep it simple I view 8 satellites at a time with no power switches works fine.
Definitely get rid of the rg59.

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
I replaced the rg59 cable going to the diseq switch. I am using all single lnb's for 110,119 and 129. No dish pro and No dish pro plus. I am using a 4 x 1 diseq switch. I am going to check the ac voltage to the switch from the box to see if it is doing 13v and 18v. I also got a terminator resistor from Radio Shack to test the cable to see if there is any loss in signal. I will post results later tonight. If that all checks out then I may have to start over with software and build back up. I am getting about an 79 in quality on 129 but the signal level is in the 90's. What about you?

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
rg6 is the preferred type cable to use and always make sure back power switch is off when disconnecting cable to keep from burning switch up

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
I found out that two of my three cables had a reading of 82 ohm instead of 75 ohm. My 3rd cable was 75 ohm, so I used that. At first, the HDTV played fine, but then it started freezig up again. I noticed when you hit bring up the signal screen while watching tv the video mb/s can jump up and that is what causes it to lock up. The movies on ppv in hd are more steady and play around 5 mb/s. The sports can jump up to like 10-12 mb/s. Does this explain my problem any better?

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
Yes my signal strength and quality are about the same as yours with some transponders lower in quality but still working fine no freezing or locking up.
If you are still having issues reload software ISO 1.0.1.15 Rev4 in this order.
1. Make Restore disc you can use a CD-R or DVD-R label it 1.0.1.16 restore.
2. Shout down receiver; unplug power cord from back of receiver.
3. Open receiver and disconnect power connection to hard drive. This will keep the receiver from righting some of the boot files to the hard drive.
4. Reconnect power cord.
5. Connect a key board to the receiver.
6. Turn power on and press F11 wile booting.
7. Place ISO 1.0.1.15 Rev4 in CD ROM drive.
8. Scroll down to highlight CD ROM drive and press enter.
9. Use option 1.
10. Follow instructions and set basic settings.
11. Restart receiver; The receiver should boot fine with out the hard drive connected.
12. Load 1.0.1.16 update from a CD or USB drive.
13. Restart receiver.
14. Shutdown receiver and unplug power cord from back of receiver.
15. Reconnect power connection to hard drive.
16. Replace cover.
17. Turn on receiver allow to boot normally.
18. Place restore disc 1.0.1.16 in CD ROM drive.
19. Go to (Admin) (updates) (Restore) press enter follow instructions.
20. When restore has completed restart and all info should be as it was except for the weather info.
Let me know how this works it worked great for me.

should not lose them by just unhooking power
would have to delete them to lose them or reformat harddrive

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
I can't choose option number 2 if the hard drive is unplugged. I kept the hard drive plugged to mother board but disconnected power to hard drive. I can't lose my recordings to the hard drive. I can try to do a restore with the hard drive connected on the power supply, but that may not work. Are you 100% positive if I choose option number one and the hard drive power supply isn't plugged in that I won't lose my recordings?

Re: CW4000 keeps locking up on HD sports
I did the option 2 and then updated the software to be current to see how it went. The other option is to back up the hard drive with winscp and then do option number one. I plan on watching the rockets vs jazz tonight in hd if it's available. It seems like whenever there is an official update then I have to start all over again. I will post results in about an hour. thanks guys!
