CW 600S New OSD Setup Guide

Created by Mrokarvi

I will try to make this guide easy and as useful as possible and I hope it will answer all of the questions. First of all you need following tools to update your receiver.

1- A CW600s receiver
2- Null Modem Cable
3- New OSD software bin files “CX_KroundV1.06.bin and CX-LoaderV2.50.bin” for CW600s model FTA receiver
4- Loading Software CW600 v1.04 and also New CW600 V1.05

All file are available for download in file section bundled in a package.

1) Connect your PC and receiver with twisted RS-232C Null modem cable.

2) Power off the receiver from the back switch.
3) You must load this new OSD in “boot” MOD. Here how you get into “boot”MOD:
Hold power button on the front of the receiver and turn the power ON from the back of the receiver. You will see a word “boot” on the front LCD screen of the receiver.

4) If you have USB to serial cable and a Virgin brand new receiver then you have to first load new OSD bin file using a null modem cable or load old OSD V142 or latest bin file to make your USB to serial cable work.

5) Run the LoaderV1.04 on your PC. Select the right COM port where you connected your null modem cable usually COM1, then select

<Download Main S/W>, press <Open> and select the bin file,CX_KroundV1.06_24138Chip.bin then click <Start>, upgrade will begin.

6) After finishing, the receiver LED will display "-End"
If your experience any problem during the upgrade start over again.
7) Turn receiver Off from the back and then ON the receiver; you will see 00:00 now press "POWER" key on front of the receiver panel to make it standby, the LED *** will display “- - : - -“.
8) Start New LoaderV1.05 check if the right COM port is selected then select
<Download Main S/W>, press <Open> and select the bin file,CX-LoaderV2.50 then click <Start>, upgrade will begin

If you will not upload the CX-LoaderV2.50.bin you will not be able to Enable the Patch to watch scrambled channels. While loading the software make sure Power is always ON and do not touch any buttons while loading these new bins. It may damage you receiver.
From now on you have to use Loader V1.05 to upgrade your receiver for new updates. Since you have loaded the new OSD bin to your receiver now you can not roll back to older OSD anymore. Do not try to load old OSD bin to your receiver it may damage your receiver. DO NOT load this file into any other receiver other than Captiveworks CW-600S receiver because it may damage your receiver.

Now you have successfully loaded the latest software to your receiver. It is now ready to scan satellites channels and have fun with it.

Here is a guide to Scan your Satellites
Connect your sat cable to your receiver and hook up your receiver to your TV set. You can scan Single or Multiple satellites for channels at the same time.
Single Satellite search can be done by going to:
Main Menu -> Installation -> Antenna Setup -> Select the satellite you want to scan for channels and press “Red” key on your remote
Here are typical Configuration settings for a DSS LNB

Antenna Setting

LNB Freq 11250
LNB Type Normal
22 KHz Off
Diseqc Number LNB1
Legacy SW Off
Motorized System None

You can use “Legacy switch” by changing it to “SW21 Dish1” and changing Diseqc Number back to NONE.
-After you have done changing the configuration according to your setup press “RED” key on you remote. It will start scanning all of the channels for that particular satellite.
-You can also access Blind Scan feature from the same screen by pressing “Yellow” key from your remote.
-If you want to scan only one transponder then press “Blue” key from your remote.

Multiple Satellites Scan
You can scan maximum 4 satellites at a same time using easy tuning feature available in New OSD

To go from Status to Satellite name scroll down until you see Satellite name field get highlighted then use right/Left key to change satellite you want scan; now scroll down again until you get to Diseqc switch setting change it to whatever your switch setting; scroll down to LNB Frequency setting and change it to appropriate frequency.

Enable the Patch
To watch scrambled channels you must Enable the patch
Exit all menus, Press F1 key; the LED will display 'H', then press '000'

How to install updates for new OSD

Assuming Everyone has updated there receivers with new OSD Software. Now if any new update comes for CW600s receivers you Just have to use the same procedures as we did for old OSD. Guides are available in sticky for Old OSD. The Only difference would be to use new Loader V1.05 for update. Do not try to use new loader with older bins and new bins with older loader. Just in case if you dont want to find an older guide here is the procedure.

1) Connect your PC and receiver with twisted RS-232C Null modem cable.

2) Turn receiver Off from the back and then ON the receiver; you will see 00:00 now press "POWER" key on front of the receiver panel to make it standby, the LED *** will display “- - : - -“.
3) Start New LoaderV1.05 check if the right COM port is selected then select
<Download Main S/W>, press <Open> and select the bin file,CX_KroundV-.--.bin then click <Start>, upgrade will begin.

4) After finishing, the receiver LED will display "-End"
If your experience any problem during the upgrade start over again.

Step's to load the New OSD files!!

Instructions on Loading the New OSD bins on a Captive Works s600

1st Release-CX_KroundV1.06_24138Chip.bin

This is the CX-Kround V1.06 new OSD bin for Captive Works 600S summer main board.. It is recommended to load the Captive Works Factory file before loading this New OSD bin. DO NOT load the new OSD file on anything other the a Captive Works 600S!!

If you try loading this New OSD file on a Skyview Rx600 it may damage your receiver and you have been warned!

1. Power off the receiver from the back switch.
2. Hold the front panel power button and while holding turn on the back switch, your receiver should display (boot)
3. Load the CX_KroundV1.06_24138Chip.bin using the old Upgrade1.04V loader.

5. Put receiver into standby mode by pressing the front panel power or remote power, your receiver will display (--:--)
6. Use the UpgradeV1.05 Loader to load the CX-LoaderV2.50.bin

NOTE: If you have the kround software in your receiver from now on you must use the V1.05 tool to update your software and you CAN NOT go back to the old Summer Version Files.

Please make sure when you upload the files, make sure the power is always on. If you shut down the power while its loading, it will damage the receiver.

2nd Release-CX_Kround V1.07US.bin

Please load this file like before using V1.05 loader if your receiver is already updated to the new OSD CX_KroundV1.06_24138Chip.bin. If not, you need to update your receiver from the 1st release (CX_KroundV1.06_24138Chip.bin) and then load this file (CX Kround V1.07US.bin)

2. Hold the front panel power button and while holding turn on the back switch, your receiver should display (boot)
3. Load the CX Kround V1.08.bin using the NEW Upgrade1.05V loader.
4. When finished your receiver will display END, power off and on the receiver
5. Put receiver into standby mode by pressing the front panel power or remote power, your receiver will display (--:--)
6. Use the UpgradeV1.05 Loader to load the Dish Channel list For Kround bin.
7. Choose Download S/W option like you do for the bin file and then select the Dish channel list for Kround.bin and click start!
8. The channel bin will load much faster, DO NOT Interrupt, your receiver will display END when done!

6. Your Receiver will display END, no need reboot your receiver

Now Press Menu>>System Setting>>System>> and Turn your bell & dishnet full Name option to "on". If you loaded both BEV & DN channel files then you will now have Full channel names for both!!

Good Luck and I will update this manual when needed!
