Here's a little laugh for y'all.
I joined this site a couple years ago. I had a Viewsat Ultra. But alas no home internet. Updates were possible through the USB drive (Thankfully), but ECMs were coming out every other day and I couldn't be bothered to drive to the library for a bin that was probably already useless. So I sold the box.
I've always been a bit of a computer nerd and thought recently, "I should get a PCI DVB-S card." So I did. Yesterday. A Hauppauge Nova S Plus. I got MyTheatre as it seems painless to use. I downloaded good ol' emunation from a different site. As I was scanning the bird (Nimiq 1) I finally noticed Nag 3. (I think I read it on lyngsat.com) For some reason, I'd completely missed out on the fact that NAG 3 is in full force for BEV. Sigh. Looks like I wasted money and time on a card that's mostly useless. (could do VCR --> DVD maybe) I had just one question... Is there a way to aim a dish using Mytheatre / other windows program? I'm sure if my dish is still aimed. As I was scanning the bird, it kept on finding channels. When I finished scanning and clicked on the station names, the current program name did come up. (But no vid / sound obviously) PS. I thought of another question. Card sharing and PCI cards. As I understand it, cardsharing is basically cloning the codes / keys / everything of a legit smart card and putting it into another. Then cloned card acts like a legit one. As long as the owner pays the bills, all the cloned cards should work. Am I way off base, and is it possible with computer based cards as well? roXTar. |
