The Happening
I'm a sucker for thrillers, and I always enjoy seeing Mark Wahlberg play a lead actor. I think he did a great job with his character (high school science teacher).
What scared me the most is that the plot seems possible, that nature could turn on us.
4/5 only because there's a sequel coming out (the ending was left wide open). Very anxious to see the next installment!

Very implausible the way it was presented. Trees and plants don't mutate that fast but nature turns on man all the time.
It would be far more likely that man digs up a dormant virus in the rainforest that wipes him out before he can find a solution to it.

Re: The Happening
I thought it was pretty weak myself.
There were some hidden messages in the movie though, like when they are leaving the Model Homes and the ad sign for the Homes says "You Deserve This!"
It was like a big, pro, "Global Warming" movie - the plants are revolting at humans (notice animals weren't affected?) for ruining the planet or some other BS
And it seemed that people were affected well before "The Happening" itself, as evidenced by the crazy old lady and by Wahlberg's wife. Listen to her phone conversation with "Joey" on the train.
Apparently, they did hook up but she doesn't remember doing so.

Re: The Happening
im with sky and tom on this one.
im a huge thriller fan,but this was basically more along the lines of a horror story.and like most horror flicks, the story/plot's are weak.kinda like porn.you don't 'em for their story lol.
wont watch this one twice.
a poorly done combined horror/thriller.
if they went all out horror with it,it would of been fine for horror movie fans.but a really poor attempt combo.
horror movie fans might love it.but thriller fans wont care for this one.
