Tell Me What You Think-HD TV

Seriously Thinkin About Buying A New Tv, I Dont Have A Hd Unit Now, I Have An Old 52" Toshiba Projection, I Want Atleast 42" Or Bigger, Im Seriously Thinking About Olevia Or Vizio, What Are Your Thought On These 2 Units? The Reason For These Two Units Is Price, And They Seem To Get Pretty Good Marks In Consumer Reports Etc...i'm Very Price Conscious And Im Not Interested In Plasma, Any Input Would Be Appreciated!

Just don't walk into a Sony store, you won't leave.
Google "olevia sony".

I have 2 LCDs, a 42" JVC that I got about 6 mons ago for $1100 (it has drop since to $948) and a 36" Vizio that I got on special after x-mas for $520
I like the picture and colours on the JVC better than the Vizio.

Re: Tell Me What You Think

If you are interested in 42inch LCD TV here are my favorites, and I did a lot of research and shopping around when I bought mine.

Either one of these LCD TV brands are excellent: Samsung, Sharp Aquos, Sony Bravia
For Plasma: Panasonic Viera

The best deals are on Boxing Day, now you gonna pay extra $$$.

Price should not be your biggest concern, you are buying a new 42inch LCD TV, and I am sure you are gonna keep it for a few years, so invest wisely, or you might get disappointed and regret owning the TV.

good luck

Re: Tell Me What You Think-HD TV

For the budget buyers, I would recommend getting an Olevia, or at least take a look. I have a 27" Olevia for my small living and it's awesome. Pretty good specs. contrast 1,600:1, even HDMI.

If you have $$$, go for Samsung or Sony

Very interesting article. I almost bought a Pioneer but opted for a Panasonic instead.
So now Pioneer will be using Panasonic built plasma displays and Sharp lcd displays for their new model lines. Pioneer models were very costly so it looks like it came back and bit them in the **s.

Thumbs up Re: Tell Me What You Think-HD TV

I have a 52" Mitsubishi WD-52526 LCD, $2,000 W/STAND... My brother has 50" Sony Wega.... My Mitsu is very nice & has some features the sony doesn't, But the Sony Wega has a crisper more colorful picture.... They are both very very nice "floor units". ( I would go with the Sony Wega if I had it to do over....THE 60" though)

Re: Tell Me What You Think-HD TV

My thoughts on PIONEER... Back in the 80s I think Pioneer was a very reputable Brand.(and still are as far as Car stero equipment today) but I don't think they are up for the challenge in todays market with the TV/Video equip. I have a Pioneer DVD RECORDER & Pioneer Reciever... The reciever is great but the DVD Recorder works when it wants to...I called for service & some tips on it, They told me they didn't want to spend the time to work out the bugs and just stopped making dvd recorders all together... So....Pioneer for stereo YES !! Pioneer for anything TV/Video related, mmmm I think I'd pass them up if I were you...

Re: Tell Me What You Think-HD TV

last year i bought a samsung DLP projection ,love this tv ,it is hooked up to a captain 8000hd and the picture is just amazing ,thought about getting plasma or lcd flat panel tv but they did not come in a big enough size to be what i call a big screen tv . my samsung is 61 inches of pure heaven .even today when i am watching discovery hd channel or pbs hd i still get that new tv feeling .although it cant be wall mounted it lookes great sitting on its matching stand .so if you are looking new tv i would recomend you just take a look at DLP or LCD projection they are not the big box they used to be and at much less cost than flat pannel..

Nothing at all? Just if you haven't been in a Sony Store(different from a Sony TV at Zellers), the sets are quite belle. Wasn't suggesting Olevia was bad either. If you have the scratch the choice is higher end, if you don't, as written above Olevia isn't hard on the budget or eyes. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

Re: Tell Me What You Think-HD TV

A short time ago my boyfriend bought himself a Sony Bravia 26'' LCD HD flat screen TV... well it looks quite nice, very elegant and everything, now want to get one for my own apartment and not sure what's the best option. Anyone experience with Sony? Thanks in advance...

My 46" Samsung LCD with the viewsat 9000HD AWSOME. Got the tv on memorial day at brandsmart for $1499. Better price then circuit city, best buy, sound advice. Wal-mart had great prices on 42" and smaller. Didn't have a problem giving my son my 52" rca projection. Good Luck
