Re: Windows 7
I have a copy of Win7 on it's way when it is released. I cant wait to get Vista off my computer.
A real good, clean version of XP is becoming hard to find, I would far rather have old reliable XP....lol

Re: Windows 7
I have used Windows 7 through all it beta builds. I think they should have left it more like build 7100. Very KDE like. Windows 7 was much faster and stable, I think the RC was not as fast and seem to have more bugs than the beta. I have a feeling and that Windows 7 will have some conflicts with older systems. I remember when XP was beta. Seem to work great with older systems until the final release.

you hit the nail dead on..windows 7 is merely a marketing ploy cause it's another gen of vista..service pack 2 or 3 according to the pundits..will stick w/xp till the wheels fall off or I get a conference freebie copy..

Re: Windows 7

HERE WE GO AGAIN
UPDATES
????
c/p
Yahoo India
Wed, Oct 14 08:46 AM
Microsoft Corp
issued its biggest software patch on record on Tuesday to fix a range of security issues in its programs, including the yet to be released Windows 7 operating system.
In a monthly update sent to users of its software, Microsoft released 13 security bulletins, or patches, to address 34 vulnerabilities it identified across its Windows, Internet Explorer, Silverlight, Office and other products.
It said six of the patches were high priority and should be deployed immediately. The patches -- which update software to write over glitches -- are designed to protect users from hackers or malicious software downloaded from the Internet.
Several of the patches affect Windows 7, the software maker's new operating system, which will be officially unveiled next week, but has been widely used in test versions.
Such an early sign of security issues on Windows 7 is potentially worrisome for Microsoft, which is hoping its new operating system will erase bad feelings among many customers who bought the predecessor, Vista.
A Microsoft spokesperson could not immediately say whether the company had identified further security problems with Windows 7. The company generally does not disclose such problems until it has patches available.
The vulnerabilities in Windows 7, including the risk of having a PC taken over by a hacker, were serious flaws, but to be expected, according to Dave Marcus, senior researcher at software security firm McAfee Inc.
"As long as human beings are writing code there are always going to be vulnerabilities," he said.
Tuesday's update included the largest number of patches to be issued on a single day by Microsoft.
Corporate users will need to test the patches before they deploy them to make sure they do not cause machines to crash because of compatibility issues with existing software.

Re: Windows 7
Running a duel boot with XP Pro and Windows 7. So far I like 7. I did not like Vista. 7 seems to be less bloated and has a clean look and feel.

Bit Torrent is a P2P sharing protocol. Good for sharing large files. You use a client like UTorrent to connect to peers and tracker sites to find torrents. http://www.mininova.org is a popular site. The most famous tracker site is Download music, movies, games, software! The Pirate Bay - The world's largest BitTorrent tracker.
If you used Bit Torrent to download you should be aware that it possible to get in trouble with your ISP for downloading copyrighted material. The RIAA sometime monitors activity and you get a warning letter from your ISP telling you to stop are they will pull the plug on you.
If you want download torrents frequently, I recommend running a program like Peer Guardian Phoenix Labs PeerGuardian 2 that block your IP from the RIAA.
Usnet is much more efficient way to get large files, and is what I use most of the time. I download a lot of BluRay images that usually run 8 to 11 gigs. Much faster but costs a few bucks a months for a Usenet provider that does not strip binaries. The tracker site I use most is NZBMatrix: NZB Usenet Downloads. NZBs Downloads.
I probably told you more that you wanted to know. Enjoy

Thanks for the info. I didn't see Windows 7 or anything with enough bytes to be an operating system at the mininova site.
