Is there a free way to track call phone using it's gps?

The Android phones offers geo tracker which will tell you exactly where the phone is at any time. I'm sure that depending on model/provider you should be able to track it.

Well i don't know about free,i think you should ask your provider.But i'll do a little reseach if i find something i'll let you know.

I would like to track any cell from my computer to see where my friends are,maybe at the beer store so i can call them and ask to pick up a 6 pack.

Your right and its free but must contact provider.

Prey helps you locate your missing Android device by sending you a report with a bunch of information of its whereabouts. This includes the general status of the device, a list of running programs and active connections, fully-detailed network and wifi information.
Prey for Android works the same way as it does in Portables and Desktops. The only difference is that there’s no standalone mode (yet), and the activation is not done via the Control Panel, but by sending an SMS to your phone with any message you want. By default this is “GO PREY” but you can (and should) put something else that will keep your friends from pulling jokes on you.
The good thing is that Android phones are geo capable, which means that we don’t need to try to grab a picture of the thief, we can just fetch the exact current location using the phones GPS or by using GSM triangulation.

If you then want to disable Prey, you can do so by sending another SMS (by default, “STOP PREY”, which you can also change), or by unsetting the missing status on the Control Panel. That’s it.
Prey uses a remote activation system which means the program sits silently in your computer until you actually want it to run. If so, it gathers all the information and sends it to your Prey web control panel or directly to your mailbox. The thief will never know his movements are being watched.

You may be thinking “but what’s the point of this program if the guy will probably just format the thing right away?” and you’re completely right. However, experience shows that thieves tend to look in stolen computers for valuable information, so there’s actually a chance you can catch the guy.

Also there were some cases of some getting caught.

Actually the program is called "OpenGeoTracker". It can be downloaded from the app store on Android devices and doesn't require you to contact the carrier.
"This application lets you tag and upload the geo position of the device(single points or continuously.) You can then view the position online at opengeotracker.org(track your children, location of a dog if you're hunting, etc. Really neat utility and best of all it's free.

Client Features:::

• Lets you enter the URL for the receiving server
• Lets you enter a random key (4-20 chars). This key will be associated with all the GPS-data you send (in the Android application this key is random generated by default check in Menu->Key id)
• Lets you set how often the phone should send it's position to the server (in the Android application this must be >= 5 seconds)
• You might tag each serie of GPS-info with a name (0-40 chars) (for example: "daughter at friend", "my great mushroom places", ...)
• Two modes: turn on/off continuous logging (at the specified update interval) or only log each time you press a button.
• Other ideas 1: Cache positions so you can send them later (for example when you're home at your WLAN)
• Other ideas 2: Add categories that the tag names belong to (so you can organize your data better)

Server Features:::

• Let's you enter your key to gain access to your data.
• View your routes using Google Maps
• Import your data as a kml-route (LineString?) or the last point as a kml-point. You might integrate these in your own application
• Import your data as a CSV-file (Comma Separated Value) also the timestamp of the position is delivered on the format: <key-id>,<tag-name>,<yyyy-MM-dd>T<HH:mm:ss>+01:00,<latitude>,<longitude>
• Other ideas1: Download your GPS data using other car-navigation formats such as TomTom)
• Other ideas2: geo-tag photos by uploading them (match the jpg-images EXIF timestamp with the timestamp of the GPS on the server)

The GPS-logging API sent from the phones to the server consists of a simple GET on a server URL:

The parameters are:

key The identifier you use to identify all your GPS data (you might choose it yourself or generate a unique id on the server)
tag (optional) A tag to identify your current data suite (a name of a trip, etc)
latitude The latitude in decimal format (the same format Google Maps API uses)
longitude The longitude in decimal format (the same format Google Maps API uses)

Apart from the timestamp of the request you might turn on a feature to store IP-number of the connecting device. All data is currently stored in a MySQL database is that right??

my daughter and I have Sprint phones witch you can track the phones on the computer for $5 bucks extra a month through Sprint,but not other phones on different servers.If you can track sprint phones I would think there is a way to track others?

Google "zoombak". Believe they have a universal GPS tracker. I don't believe it is free though.
