Thats terrible after what our military has done for all of us to have this happen...my thoughts and prayers go out to all of Ft.Hood and anyone who has family members stationed there.

That is very scary my son just left there, but his girlfriend is there i just talked to her a few minutes ago and she is ok, they are on lockdown and were told to turn off the air conditioners, in there barracks.

My son is based out of Fort Hood and the guys over fighting are taking this really hard

a lot of them have families living on the base, and are just hearing about it. they must feel much like the families here do when you hear about a battle going on over there. my thoughts and prayers go out to them.

The shooters last name is Hassan. If it walks like a duck quacks like a duck it must be a duck. Locked up all the japanese during WW II and is worked out. Sorry we have to be so politically correct now a days even after 911 and leave arselves wide open. This guy was educated and angry about being sent back to war and snapped.Wonder if he still get 70 virgins being in the american military. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan: Fort Hood Shooter

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is the man who shot and killed eleven people and injured 31 others at the Fort Hood Army base , according to the Associated Press and other news organizations.

Hasan, said to be in his 30s, is allegedly responsible for opening fire at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Killeen, Texas post .

According to spokesman Lt. Gen Bob Cone from Fort Hood, the suspect was armed with two handguns.

Officials said Hasan was shot and killed after quick response from security officers. At least two other soldiers were taken into custody and later released.

A defense official speaking on condition of anonymity said Hasan was a mental health professional -- an Army psychologist or psychiatrist.

The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children. He graduated from Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.

It was not immediately clear why Hasan allegedly went on the shooting spree.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said he was about to deploy overseas. She was told about the upcoming deployment by generals based at Fort Hood. But it was unclear if he was headed to Iraq or Afghanistan and exactly when he was scheduled to leave.

Retired Army Col. Terry Lee told Fox News that he worked with Hasan, who had hoped Obama would pull troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Lee said Hasan got into frequent arguments with others in the military who supported the wars, and had tried hard to prevent his pending deployment.

Federal law enforcement officials said he had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials said the postings appeared to have been made by Hasan. They are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They said an official investigation was not opened.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

Investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name, or if he changed his name and converted to the Islamic faith at some point in his life. However, they were not certain of his religion.
