Problem, looks it's a clone

I just got a new ST2000 , and the guy said to me it's a original, not clone, it's silver color and it says free to air in left top corner, and in main menu Conditional Access option is missing so i cannot enter keys manually. Furthermore in the list of available satellites there is nothing i've seen on my friends receiver, no north american satelites, just european and asian ones. My conclusion thet the ROM ahs to be reprogrammed or flashed using the utility, but another problem is that I cannot connect using my laptop or desktop computer. There is something terribly wrong with this POS. Again, i have to mention that i'm using PFFlink utility but no connection detected. It's very frustrating, so if anybody knows how to fin the **** thing it will be greatly appreciated, just do not send me to newbie section, i need the answer form more experienced users. Thanks
