usb to serial help please

got the usb to serial adaptor but dont know how to list as a com port to get loader to load help!!!please...

Bottom left hand side in the loader pgm should have a spot where you can change the com port, try com 4 or 5 they're the most common.

when u inserted the usb to serial adapter into ur computer ,,did it ask for drivers to be installed for it ? then u installed them,,and it said it was good to use ? if so,,then on ur computer,,,very bottom left,, click on start, then go to settings menu and choose control panel,,open it and find the "system" icon and open it,,once open click on the hardware tab,, then locate the device manager and open it,,,when u do this,,make sure the usb adapter is pluggen into ur computer,, the device manager will open up,,and then look for + (com&lpt) port ,,,click the little plus sign,,a box will appear and tell u the com port number,,that is the number u put in ur loader

let me check the forum ,,think there is a tool or a guide to help u get that usb adapter to load ,,,are u using windows xp or windows vista ? and if its vista,,is it 32 or 64 ?

I had a similar problem but used the all-mighty Google and found the correct driver online at the manufacturers site and corrected the install. I then did as the other members suggested and went to the Start button, right clicked on My Computer, opened Properties, selected Hardware, then clicked Device Manager and looked for the Ports (Com & Lpt) tab where I found my USB to Serial device com port listed. Hope this helps.

good,,64 sucks to find drivers for ,,,its still too new lol,,32bit u shouldnt have a problem if u use that link i posted for u,, hang on,,i think theres a tool here to find out what port ur computer is set too,,once u get the driver installed and it says its good for use ,, brb ,,i will add to this post so look here in a few mins ,,
check this tool out to find ur com port,,it says for xp,,but should work with ur vista,,if it dont,,follow the steps above to find ur comport number :

b4 u go to device manager,,make sure the adapter is plugged into ur computer,,once its plugged in,,then go to device manager,,,try to use the same usb plug-in on ur computer that u installed the driver with,,,u might have to remove the adapter,,wait 5 secs,,then put it back into the same slot,,proceed to device manager ,,try that tool i posted above,,it finds ur port number for u,,alot easier

still not working maybe i need to just smash it with a hammer Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
