I-Link Support question for Mods
Why doesen't this site support the I-LINK Fta STB? I have been with this site long time and had to join another site to get support for I-Link.
Who has the power to make this happen. would like to stay with this site but I am now testing aan STB that works really good.

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
It my be that no one here uses and/or has first hand familiarity with the I-link (in other words Using It).......if you are now up & running and can help others with their questions, we'll then have someone here that can lend a helping hand i.e. support.
This is just an opinion..............................MT

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
I also know of a few sites that won't support it because they say there could be risks involved with the I-link...not my words but just what I've seen and read.

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
c/p from another site
Hello All,
We are No longer supporting this ilink receiver. This is to protect the privacy and security of our members. They are requiring you to pay to have access to the IKS server and this will leave a paper trail which could be traced back to our members.
As of now, the ilink section will be permanently closed and staff members will close all threads and posts related to ilink.
I'm asking members to understand and to cooperate on this matter.
Your privacy and security is our top priority.
Thank you.

ROTFLMAO
you're kidding right?
well after they did that they had a promotion sale for "sat exch" which coincidentally only sells SV... Can you imagine selling only SVs in this current market? I think it's unconscionable to sell something that doesn't work.
A week later this same sight that I'm talking about brought in a hired hand to sell more SVs. During his welcoming post I noticed his post count of 900 and reputation of 0.... I posted this discrepency for I'm not stupid and know that some places do this to add to a person's credibillity and was banned for posts concering SV (what posts?)
As we all know here there are few sites that are run fairly such as this one
The old mighty dollar is powerful incentive and if all your sponsors sell only one product you will be a bad position to allow a box that makes that box look bad.
This is the biggest problem with Ilink.
It was the first to have adult channels back in april
It was the first to have Spanish channels back in may
It was the first to have PPV channels in the 500s not in VOD channel
It was the first to have Miami or PR locals
It has had 3 of the las PPV Events
Another problem with Ilink, and I say this all the time, is that only a few dealers sell them and without sponsorship at a site the ILink section will not happen. Yes there's only a few Ilink sections around but if you look you will find them
The key issue has been blown out of propotion
Yes a 32 bit security key was needed to secure the Ilink servers for the Nano2 guys were piggybacking off of it to watch TV
The implematation of this key was a difficult one considering no records are kept of who buys what so the needed keys were sent to the original dealers
meaning if you sold 100 Ilinks 6 months ago you got 100 keys
some of these dealers were no longer selling Ilink so yes they could "sell" them or do whatever they like with them for Ilink had no control of their actions.. If I Ilink didn't give them the keys you would have heard all over the net how Ilink reniged on their support...
So yes a few people got screwed on the keys but most didn't if read in the Ilink sections on those supporting forums you will see the ones that recievied the keys for free out weigh the ones that paid
The reason why people are hearing so much about the Ilink at this time is that it really works so well... I link doesn't need to hire people to lie aobut how well it's working they allow their work to speak for themselves and by the looks of things ITS GOING EXTREMELY WELL!!!

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
The issue to date with the iLink has been simply that the dealership network had been in its infantcy (virtually non existant); its only just very recently begun to be made available from more than just a single dealer or two ... not sure if that was by design or by accident, however, you can be sure as more people begin to request help and support for it, we'll be here to provide same.

Let us know when the NA dealers are around, maybe one would like to be a site sponsor here.. if that is the way they will operate.. but again.. we have to be convinced first. and no. I am not saying you are not telling the truth.. just need more info..
|
so if a sponsor sells the box it's no longer a threat?
I GET IT!!!

richie
we do not operate our site the way others do and we do not talk about the way they choose to operate their site
the original posters question has been answered and there is no need to keep bring up stuff that does not need to be brought up
please take this as the friendly warning that it is

He was just posting something he read, hence the "C&P" at the beginning of his post, nothing more nothing less.

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
Understandabley, one can only offer support for a product when their is significant demand for same ... with only a single dealership in place (as was the case) getting significant units out into the feild takes a lot longer than if the distribution network was more widespread from the beginning.
From what I know of the iLink, it looks like a very nice product, not unlike the Nano which I'm sure it was modelled upon. Let's hope they kept the nice GUI (always thought the Nano had the best GUI in the filed) anyway ... with sales now being made and more people asking about this unit, it only makes sense to add an area for it.
But these things don't and won't happen until their is a proven demand.
I trust that this clears up the orignal question.

We'll see about adding a Support and Files area for it.
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
Last words, you can't find them to buy, there is no demand for them and security is very questionable

Re: I-Link Support question for Mods
That is not true the demand is there for people that want to watch TV most dont know about them, If you google them plenty of dealers out there and the box works really good.
Why should I have to join another site to get support? Let it be heard I-LINK rocks
