Some Q&A:

Q) Who is SonySat?
A) The current Distributor of SonySat and SpaceStar compatible receivers in North America.

Q) Who is this support Team?
A) A group of individuals who love the hardware, that used the previously leaked sources to "upgrade" the original and subsequent SonySat/Spacestar receivers.

Q) Will support dry up?
A) We enjoy the community and challenge. I can't promise 20 years of support, but I will say we don't have plans to go anywhere soon.

Q) Why did the support team choose SonySat?
A) We were recruited by some users of the original SpaceStar that loved the hardware, but hated the support available. Given that the source was available and the hardware was inexpensive we decided to give it a go.

Q) Will you support other SonySat Hardware?
A) We will announce any hardware we plan to support (we don't support the full line of over 40 receivers), but we currently support all SonySats (and compatible) receivers in NA.

Q) Is the SonySat the Same as the SpaceStar?
A) Its similiar, and largely compatible. Any bin we release for SonySat hardware is tested on the older SpaceStar hardware to ensure compatbility.

Q) Do you Provide a Warranty on the Code?
A) Absolutely not - but we do our best.

Q) Is SonySat/SpaceStar distributed by XRica?
A) NO, about two years ago one of the dealers of the original SpaceStar decided he wanted to start distributing his own line of receivers called "XRica". As part of his martketing effort (during launch) he labeled several of his stock of SpaceStar 700's as "By XRica". This was an unsanctioned action, and as a result the rights to purchase Spacestar and later SonySat receivers at dealer prices was withdrawn. This ex-dealer continues to sell his stock from 2 years ago on ebay - so we get this question periodicially.
