Channel switching buttons stuck!
Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum but I've been lurking around and found a great deal of information and help! Hopefully someone might help me with this:
The other day my uncle came to our place and started messing with the remote control (I wasn't here) and says he pressed all kinds of buttons to try and change something in the settings.
But the problem is right now, when I press the buttons to change channels or volume, it's as if they get stuck and the channels start switching like crazy (non-stop) and the volume goes all the way up or all the way down.. even after I release my finger from the button.
I tried navigating through the menu settings and it's hard because the buttons get stuck... How can I solve this?
PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE APRECIATED!

Did you try and hard boot your reciver with the switch on back. If that dont work switch it off and unplug it from the wall for about a min.

I took the batteries out and put the same again, but didn't try new ones. Actually I took the batteries out WHILE it was switching channels fast, and it didn't stop! So I guess this means it's not remote control-related, but more like receiver-related?
I will try new batteries later today.
Thanks!

Re: Channel switching buttons stuck!
is it the remote control buttons that are sticking ? or the buttons on front of the stb ?
the remote control sends the signals faster then the stb can keep up ,,, its like a stuck key on a computer keyboard,,even after u stop pressing it ,,the computer continues to repeat the same key function,,till it has completed all the built up commands,, that is what is most likely happening to ur stb,,even after u pulled the batteries,, it still had a bunch of volume up commands to complete, ,, under those rubber buttons on the remote control,,are little bubble like switches,,the rubber button presses the bubble flat and completes the connection and sends that command to the box,, if u press way hard on ur buttons,,u could of possibly, collapsed those little bubble switches,, so now when u push on the rubber button on the remote control,, the bubble collapses,,and doesnt pop up like it is suppose too,, soon as u release ur finger off the volume up button,,the little bubble switch is suppose to pop back up ,,and only send 1 volume up command,, if they are collapsed,,when u release the volume up button,,the bubble switch doesnt pop back up right away,,it sticks down,,and sends repeated volume up commands,, you may need a new remote

Re: Channel switching buttons stuck!
i added to my above post,,not sure if u read it or not
if its both that is doing it ,,then maybe ur remote control is ok ,, then it must be ur stb,, can u get into ur system menu and factory default ? this will clean ur memory,, but u will need to redo ur antenna settings and rescan channels,,this may fix ur problem ,, if it doesnt,,u may need to do a complete reload of ur stb, starting with factory flash

Thanks I just read it.
But there's another thing I just noticed : when the channels start going fast, if I press the "EXIT" button, then it immediately stops. Do you still think it's the "bubbles" that collapsed?
Also if it was a remote problem wouldn't the STB buttons be OK?

It's a little difficult to navigate through the menu because the buttons get stuck in the menu too and they're impossible to stop. I'm not at home right now but will try it later.

Re: Channel switching buttons stuck!
Sorry for the confusion. I made a mistake.
It looks like this issue is only with the remote control. When I switch channels from the STB, it's OK.
Sorry again. Thanks.

Re: Channel switching buttons stuck!
Hey before you do that. Check out this problem.
Do you have any remote controlled Mouse or Keyboard on your Computer? If so shut off your compputer and remove the Keyboard and mouse and take them away to a far away place from where your receiver is and then try your remote. If the remote acts normal then the remote of the Keyboard and mouse are stronger than the IRD remote and overrides it.
Reason: I had this problem.
