Coolsat Remote and Guide Questions

Hi,

I have been a member for a little while now. Doing lots of reading and testing. I have a Coolsat 6000, Pansat 4x1 Diseqc Switch, conected to a dual lnb 18"dish setup to get 91/82. It is working fine except that every so often, when watching TV, the channel will go to Scrambled for about a minute and then return. Waas up wit dat!

Another thing that I sort of don't understand is with this receiver being such a new and up to date unit, why does the remote not have a FAV button? Also, why do the Guide not have a Search option to see all Si-Fi, Movies, etc.

Just a couple of things that are on my mind. You have a great site, keep up the good work.

That is fairly common with lots of Coolsats. Usually pressing the Channel Up/Down buttons, then back, will resolve the issue. No one has yet come up with an acceptable answer as to why it happens. The problem has persisted through many generations of bin updates with no resolution so far. The most annoying thing is that it does not seem to occur with all Coolsat receivers making it extremely difficult for the coders to track down. My only personal opinion is that it may have something to do with the power supply's inability to output sufficient amperage to power the LNB consistently but that's purely a guess.

The FAV button is integrated with the [SAT] button. After setting your Favorites through [Menu]/[Channels]/[Set Favorites], Pressing the [Sat button will display a list of your satellites as well as your Favorite groups. Navigate to the group you want and press the [OK] button. There is no search option that I am aware of for the EPG.

Does anyone think that the coders will be able to put a search capability in the EPG. It would be great if someone could just search for a program they are looking for.

Is there a channel on BEV and DN that has the guide on it with the search capabilities. I do not see a channel on my BEV setup for a guide.

as to the scrambled ch issue insufficient power is the most likely culprit. Try adding a power inserter to the lnb. You could us a dp adapter, powered switch, or just hook any bev or other receiver to the lnb as well to help with power.
