help with pointing dish network 500 pro
I had it working getting 110, and 119 with no problems. Then a storm remove the dish from my house. Then I have it back up I can not get both sats at the same time. I can get 110, but not 119, But 121 comes in good. I can adjust it to get 119, but then no 110, but 111 has good strength. I checked the setting for my area, and the dish is set to them now, and I get 110, with good signal from 121. Which of the settings am i off? I have been playing with this all day with no luck. thanks for any help..

Only 110 & 119 will be found in the same spot beam...when you set it correctly.
111 & 121 are false signals (due to similar transponders).
Always look in the upper right corner on the Dish Setting page to verify which bird you really are locked in on.
When you select 110...it should show 110 in upper right corner...same for 119.
I set the dish for 110 signal...then the correct skew will get 119 for you.
If the dish blew off the roof...the skew is probably not changed.
Sorry I can't link you for more help just yet...my PC is going to the shop tomorrow...be back soon with better help.

I assume you have it skewed properly (?) on the back of the dish. The dish should be leaning to the left as you are facing it.
Echo 7 will be DiSEqC port#1, Echo 8 will be DiSEqC port#2 in the setup.
When you get quality on Echo 7, you have to change the TP to 12239. Adjust dish for highest quality on Echo 7, and Echo 8 will be set, also. Just like SatellteJunkie said above, check the upper right blue area, it will show Echo 7 when adjusted properly. I think you had it close, but didn't have the knowledge that to see quality on Echo 7, the TP has to be 12239. If it changes back to 12224, no biggy, doesn't affect anything. 12224 is the default TP #, and you only temporarily change it just to adjust the dish in. Once the dish is adjusted in, you are done. Do not worry about the TP #'s, except when you are sighting in dishes.

more info pointing dish
Sat Name Sat Lng Az(t) Az(m) El Skew
EchoStar 8 110.0W 228.1 242.6 30.3 34.3
EchoStar 7 119.0W 236.9 251.5 24.5 39.4
Above are the setting from satelite finder 4.3. (Thanks Carlos60) I have a new 500 pro dish. (thanks gremlins411) I am using a compass with 251. I have el set to 24ish (elavation is also marked on the dish), the skew on the dish goes from 40 to 130? (it is also marked skew on the bracket, which does not match up with 39.4?) It is leaning to the left if you look at it, and 110 is set at 1, and 119 is set to 2 for the switch. (thanks wookcreeker) My skew is set at 120 currently. If i increase the skew i can get 119, and lose 110. I have try just moving it a little at a time trying to get it working.. but no luck. I was able to get 119, and 129 ( i think). Any other ideas?

Get the correct skew angles for 110 & 119 for your area. (sat calculator)
Add the 2 numbers together & divide by 2 = skew.
In other words...the average skew for 110 & 119.
I have my dish set for 126 for DN (where I live).
This will be a static setting...which means, you set once & it stays there.
This is the first thing to do.
Now forget the others settings (for 119) & just use the info for 110 to set degrees on the compass & the degrees of elevation.
Once the 110 bird is found, use a signal meter to fine tune dish for peak signal strength.
Now 119 should be there for you automatically.
Be sure to get the correct bird settings...110 / Echostar 8 & 10...119 Echostar 7.
This is the correct way to set the dish friend.

Slide your dish off the mast pole and make sure it is plumb, level side to side, and front to back.
Download the below file.
http://www.abadss.com/forum/470-fta-...s-finders.html
Be sure to check dish 500 and enter your zipcode.
Good Luck !!

Re: help with pointing dish network 500 pro
I have a 1000 dish with 3 lnb built-in switch and live at zip 35769 I have presently a dish 500 on my pole with a 35 tilt and a 130 skew with a great picture, signal strength, and quality! When I put my 1000 on same pole and same cable I cannot get 2 much less 3 birds. I am using 39 tilt, 124.6 skew. I beleve I have wrong settings or in resent move dish lnb's have gone bad. They are only 3 months old, but U am nor real sure what dish I have, but it worked great in Miami March 1 Thanks in advance. ****************

Re: help with pointing dish network 500 pro
dishpointer is a great place to start, but you'll need to tweak your dish to lock in the highest possible quality level. it might take a few min, but you'll be thankful you did once the first rain storm comes through

1. What satellites are you aiming to with each dish?
2. "Same cable" means cable moved from dish 500 to dish 1000 or somehow both dishes together?
3. Is dish 1000 in addition or insted dish 500?

i'em in colo an my setting is 182 at 35
124 at 35 seems a lettel to east to me (for the contentel US)
u may be picking up 110/119 backword (on the wrong side of the dish)
if this is so then your not going to get 129(u may get 91)
my lat & long. is 108w 38n
seattel is near 125w & 50n
