Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
Yeah I bought the 6000 in july and kind of pissed me off when all the other fixes were out for 6100 and up and nothing for 6000 and below. I was going to buy another one for my room with HD but I will NOT buy coolsat again unless I see more support.

Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
People should take these situations as a reality check and realize nothing lasts forever. If you and your families love tv, it is worth it to subscribe to a sat provider or cable provider to make sure your never without tv. FTA is a great supplement for entertainment and if you use it for your main source of tv then you have nobody to blame but yourself when you are without.

Very well put GH, one thing everyone should remember is if it's too good to be true it usually is. this is a game that we all play. and you should always have a backup source for TV viewing, Alittle down time should be expected with this hobby. and you should never put all your eggs in one basket..

Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
The CS 4000 and CS 5000 were both discontinued before the CS 6000. The forums (not just this one) were inundated with people who complained that "support" would stop and that they would be switching to other brands (as though such comments really meant anything to anyone with the possible exception of others who may share their feelings). Lo and behold, new bins continued to be released for those models although it was a week or so behind the newer models. Then we started hearing the same thing about the CS 6000 in September. Again, new bins were in fact released for ALL three models of the discontinued receivers since September. Then another ECM hit and detractors would say, "big deal, they released a bin that just lasted 2 days!" Weren't all receivers affected by that same ECM? Was it only Coolsat?
I might add that some of the whiners and complainers were among the first to post "thanks and congratulatory messages" when the bin files were subsequently released. Another member replied to one of my posts in another thread, that I was brainwashed because "it doesn't mean people can't think for themselves." But I really have to wonder...
The long and short of it is that new bins are almost always released for the newer models first and older models still get releases but they are not accorded priority attention. Keep in mind that the mere purchase of an FTA receiver (any brand) does not ENTITLE you to ongoing "support." If you think otherwise, you might make a valuable witness for DN in their litigation against FTA manufacturers...provided, of course, that you have tangible proof of a link between the coders and manufacturers.
Peace.

Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
I agree with what you are saying. It is just so frustrating when you have a pretty new box(bought in July) and then you see that fixes are coming out for models just above yours and then you hear that there may not be a fix for yours cause it has been discontinued. It is confusing to us newbies and frustrating. At least it is to me.
And then about 3 hours ago I found a new bin for the cs6000 that is dated on the 4th of December and I don't think it is legit and will not try it in my box. So then is confusing to know which is a valid bin. And I found it on a site that I have been watching for over the past four days and wasn't there early this morning.
Like I said,, I am just frustrated and confused at this point but I would like to thank you all for having patience and to the coders,, thanks for all your hard work.

Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
Everybody needs to take a deep breath & stop the panic.
The manufacture of the CS5000/CS6000 was discontinued...not the support.
The warranty was stopped after a date because only clones are being sold new now.
All real CS units will still get the 5 year warranty.
The 4000/5000/6000 have been replaced by the CS6100.
This unit will rock into the future with it's USB update capability.
The problems we are having currently with lack of support has nothing to do with being discontinued.
This is just a hobby & we will be back to normal soon...the sky is not falling folks.

Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
The latest bin for the CS6000 is 1.55. The mods on this site do an excellent job of posting the latest bins for all brands of receivers as they become available. Some sites, such as DxxTestxx are known for jumping the gun and posting bins from unknown sources that sometimes prove to be fake. In most cases, the fake files are merely older bins that have been renamed and are thus harmless although disappointing. On the other hand, the 1.56 fake has reportedly fried receivers so DO NOT use or download it (or any other bin file) unless you get it from a trusted site such as this one.

Re: coolsat 6000 discontinued ?????
Well when I bought my 6000 in July, the 5000's were discontinued then. The reason that I know this is that I originally ordered the 5000 and they told me it was just discontinued and that I would have to get a 6000. So dssnovice is right. Just thought I'd add my two cents in there. ;0

Indeed, I've got latest bin (1.56) from that site and it's not working. Simply, you can send on your cs6k but then it stuck. No writing, no signal nothing at all. You basically have to do a hard reboot to get it back to 1.55.
Avoid bin 1.56 from such site for now...

No, Lesley,
Don't dispare. Support for CS6000 will continue even though the CS6000 is not being sold, because the Coolsat authorized dealers are instructed not to sell after 10/31/2007. This also means that anyone who is selling CS6000 is not an authorized dealer, and I would stay away from those, they may be selling clones.
