Re: Question about down time

Yes you will still get some unscrambled channels as for choosing poorly the CS 6000 is a great box unfortunately it was discontinued in Oct 07 and all dealers were told to pull them off the shelf I have 2 and they are still great but with the Delay in the release of Bins frustraing thats why I got a CW 600 s ( around $90 ) And a Nfusion but the CS's are still in use when they can!!!

in away its kind of to bad you went with coolsat 6000. it is a very good receiver, very easy to use. but the support has been really bad. but you never know. they can always get there s@#t together and come out with new bins as fast as the other ftas. they use to be good whith support. time will tell i guess. good luck.

Re: Question about down time

you will get some open channels although at times they do take everything down. If your able to cancel the shipment of the cs6k you should really look into that.

Support has not been very good at all with CS 4/5/6k. If you cancel your order, I would!

If you don't mind waiting days~weeks for new bin and it only lasts up to a week the most.......then its okay!!

Good luck with your new hobby/box

good luck with your new 6k the reciever is a nice unit but here lately the bins have came out on tuesdays are wensdays and the go down on thursdays. the realy bad part is if you don't have a lap top computer then you have to unhook from the tv and dish every time.
so good luck and injoy

Cool Re: Question about down time

I own the CS6000 and it's a nice user friendly little box.
But.....
I went for price and on the advise of a friend.
I did not research it, like I normally would.
That was my BIG mistake!

Any research at all will tell you that the Coolsat receivers are NOT getting good support from the coders. Like was already said,,,, get a new BIN on Tuesday and it's gone by the end of the week. The last bin, 162, didn't work at all. By the time I found it and downloaded it, it was already dead.

I didn't like the idea of connecting and disconnecting my Serial cable from my receiver, (that should be done with all power off) so I just ran an extended serial cable from the CS6k to my PC and I leave it connected all the time. That makes loading a new bin a snap.

Finances permitting, I'm looking very strongly at the NEOSat ipro 2000.

This next purchase won't be done on a whim, or by price alone.

Good Luck,
The Shadow

Smile Re: Question about down time

Thx guys... I didn't give much for this unit so if it's a clone or turns out to be a non-supported unit, then I do not have much in it.

I was going to go with a SonicView 8000 when I first heard of FTA. (newbie at this), but after reading (going blind,,lol) I decided to try a cheapy out to see how things work,,etc..

Later on, if I like it.. I might go ahead with the HD area..
