scrambled display
I have a coolsat 6000. Today I noticed that the display is jumping from all dashes to zeros (are these the night rider lights?). I can put a foctory flash on it and the numbers on the display seem normal. When I put the new bin on it it goes back to all dashes and zeros again. Never had this problem before. What am I missing here? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try loading the factory file in your STB. Write down your sat settings. The factory flash will erase everything. Now load the newest bin and re-enter your sat settings and rescan the sats...

Re: scrambled display
I put the factory flash on it and when I put the newest bin back on, the display goes haywire.

Re: scrambled display
Try unplugging the unit and let it sit for a while. Could be getting hot like boboisno1 says. This will give the unit time to cool down. Then retry loading the bin...

Re: scrambled display
If your sure heat is not the problem, has to be internal problem that will take a shop to fix. Factory flash and hard reboot fixes a lot of problems, but sometimes its internal electronic problem...

Re: scrambled display
Heat is usually the cause, but from the screen readings you have been getting, and the inability to load a factory file it sounds like maybe a 1000uF 10V capacitor on the power supply board might be blown. If the tops are slightly rounded upwards - they are blown they should be totally flat. This might not be the problem but it is sounding a lot like the same symptoms. I have a pic of the capacitors if needed.

Re: scrambled display
Thanks RICKSBEACH. Unfortunately my gut feeling is that the box is toast. What in your opinion is the box of choice today.
