Re: 5PM Thurs, DN just went down
Great follow up and final quote to "A DAY IN THE LIFE" of a Coosat 6000 owner, I am one of them.

Re: 5PM Thurs, DN just went down
I know you guys are frustrated by the situation with CoolSat. Me too! I'm very disappointed in their lack of support for their product. My CS6000's have been down much more than up since Ibought them in November. The point I'd like to make, however, is that let's not take it out on members of this site...I think it's the most professional and well-managed site out there.
CoolSat coders may be doing all they can; I don't know. My personal thoughts are that a) they've got too many different boxes to do so they're overworked, or b) they're just not up to the job. I'm not saying they're bad; but in comparison to the coders for alot of the other boxes, they're just not getting the job done. It may be c) that they're not properly motivated, which would be CoolSat's fault, I would think. Money talks.
I've read here many times where people are told "there's no gaurantee of service", "it's free, what do you want", and things to that effect. Well, I have this to say. When you plunk your money down for a box, it's implied that there will be service with it. If it weren't so, you'd be as well off to buy a rock. If when I bought my CoolSats in November,if they had said "please buy our product and have TV 40% of the time", do you really think I would have purchased CoolSat? I would have purchased the product that said "please buy our product. We strive for perfection in our ongoing support, and you will have the support of a team whose realistic goal is to always be first with fixes."

things i learned so far
brand loyalty is fine for a ford vs chevy but when it comes to fta go for the brand that is best now.
get the newest model. support is best when new.
be carefull when letting others in on the TV thing. if it quits they may look to you answers
times have been worse. black bird fta GLS these were $400ea and killed by the coders "long story", all summer 2006 all fta down, h card black sunday, and my personal pick for all time bummer the slow death of the HU card that left me with nothing but rabbit ears till i found out about fta.
if you want good tv at a reasonable price. it requires a little time and money
best way to not to get screwed is to read all you can.

Re: 5PM Thurs, DN just went down
fta with fixes is a gamble. no one ever told anyone that if you buy a receiver that you would be up 100% of the time. you may never be up again. that is the reality. i bought two basic receivers. i don't care. i am ready to switch into the next thing. but if you are purchasing a very expensive hd pvr receiver and then are p*ssed off because it is down i think that was a bad decision on your part. it was a bad decision. you have to understand that this could all end tomorrow.

Re: 5PM Thurs, DN just went down
The entire two years that I had a Dish Network subscription, I was never down except during severe thunderstorms.
With battery backup, I even watched satellite TV right through Hurricane Frances.
I'm keeping their phone number handy. That's all I gotta say.

never subbed. never will. the over the air HD local stations offer good entertainment in the mean while. as long as there is cash to be made from TV hobbyists the TV will not be down for long.

Re: 5PM Thurs, DN just went down
I dont understand why it takes longer to get bin for older coolsats than newer one.seems we always the last to get bin 6100 and up are first, why the extra wait for 6000? this always been a fast place to get bins so i am confused

We don't make the bins here...and have no control over this.
We release them as soon as we get them.
They are releasing the bins 6100 & up 1st...then 4/5/6000 2-3 days later...don't ask me why, 'cause I don't know either.
This is a good reason to have another brand unit for times like these.
I have SonicView4000 (only down 1 day this ECM).
I'm getting a CaptiveWorks7000S they never went down this time & are 1st out with new bins most times.
It does not help to complain...be smart & don't keep all your eggs in one basket friend.

Re: 5PM Thurs, DN just went down
as with any product, the newer ones get the fastest and best service. they want you to upgrade. if you got the fix the same time as the new receivers would you upgrade? fta sellers get a one time payment per receiver, the only way to get new money is to sell you a new "improved" one.
its jest bussness
