The Coolsat,4,5, and 6000 don't get great support any more. This is Coolsats older STB's. There emphasis is now on the newer models. Look at the Sonicviews or Viewsat STB's. These have great support and quick file releases...

You can get a great receiver with good file support starting at about $110.00 (for a CW700 unit).

Let's not forget it's the begining of the year and getting closer to Super Bowl Sunday so DN wants to send message to it's board members as to how they can control pirating. This is normal begining Christmas it seems like every year. If you pay a little closer attention you will notice that most ecm changes occur around 6P.M. EDT. VS PLT DN is freezing since 6 P.M. today. Just be patient and let coders do what they do best.

Im patient, and it kinda sucks because i barley started getting into FTA for about a month now. And with this coolsat 6000 box.....i mean geez, every other day it's going out.

Kudos to the Coders...for helping all of us out, i just hope there is a permenant fix to this problem.

The Only other suggestions I have are: Check with your dealer a bout possible upgrade or switch to moe popular models (i.e. sonic view, viewsat) or even consider emulator types like nfusion or kbox. You may also solicit opinions on this and other sites. Being that this is for educational purposes, Please consider the following: availability and support in your area as well as cost.

"permanent fix"???????...... Sorry buddy...not quite. If you're just starting this hobby... then welcome!

But you'll see that its never permanent. This is an ongoing thing that happens ALL the time. Sometimes its monthly, sometimes weekly, and as we see it now.... daily. You'll soon realize that its just what the networks do, in order to keep us from watching tv.

Its always recommended to have some kind of backup when were blacked out.

I believe only NFusion has escaped these minor ECMs thanks to their IKS system. So that's your best bet if you're going to get a new receiver.

Superbowl will be on local channel so.. I don't see the point of having ECM for a non-PPV event.

Sorry if i didnt make it more clearer, but i was refering to the intermitant freezing issue's that are affecting these coolsat (and a few other boxes)every other day now....I know there will not be a permenant fix....and i appriciate bigevil69's comment.....and i am currently attempting to contact someone locally here inquiring a setup similar to the one he has mentioned.

I've had a Pansat 2500 and upgraded some time back to Coolsat 6000. Shortly after the 6000, support seemed to die. I have a Pansat 3500 which seems to be up and reliable most of the time. The 2500, with a little more trouble gets up and running as well. The Coolsat 6000 has been gathering dust. However, just last week I noticed files for same. Sure like that box the best. Even now, Pansats both down, but 6000 had fix quickly and works great. Go figure.

Yes, Coolsat support is back. Those norw guys are doing a great job with supporting older discontinued models to make everybody happy. Pansat are getting their fixes too, even if it's a little "late" compared to others.
