MY 2500 is dead also. No knight rider or any lights of any kind. I tried JTag, but it won't accept anything. D2 says "wrong ID" and I can't change it. Sky says "can't open parallel port". I will keep looking for cure.

Re: Fix for nightrider lights on Pansat2300A and 2500A
I made a mistake by downloading the wrong bin in my 2500A converted to 2700A. It worked fine all evening, then when I turned it on the next morning it was DEAD. No lights. Will this program fix it, or is it dead? I tried JTag but no luck.
Thanks for a great web site!

Re: Fix for nightrider lights on Pansat2300A and 2500A
hi' chief i don't have the answer to this one, but try the bl{blacklist}wireless jtag program found in the 2500a program section, if that don't work try the 2500 to 2700
reverse program also found in the same section, make sure your using the bl 1.4 loader,
if not download it also. if you get it up and running again use only the programs for the
converted 2700 found in the 2500 section only. the programs in the 2700 section won't work because they are not compressed.
P.S. my 2500a also went down several months ago {totaly dead} and i used the
bl wireless jtag program and my receiver came back to life. NOTE: for the
program to work i had to hit the download button on the loader frist and a
second later no!!!!! more. then turn the receiver on from the rear.
I really hopes this helps.

Re: Fix for nightrider lights on Pansat2300A and 2500A
STB = 2500a Non clone (STB = Set Top Box, i.e Receiver for newbies)
Software = 2500-2700 Serial Updater from the downloads forum. - Started with X_85BL070411_293api.bin in the STB
- Burned Pansat Factory Bin - got live STB on auto reboot. (Pansat_2500a_050713_236_api(n).bin) @640kb
- Burned CS_220T_Lightning_100t_Series_serial.bin @448k - got Nightrider lights
- Cycled power on STB - problem remained
- Burned CS_228T_Lightning_100t_Series_serial.bin @448k - got Nightrider lights
- Cycled power on STB - problem remained
- Burned X_85BL070411_293api.bin @640k Got TV, back to where I started. STB rebooted itself to life.
When using 2500-2700 Serial Updater each time the software got to 100% and said COMPLETE. I noticed that the 2500a read 70% when the software read 100%. 448k is 70% of 640k. Does the 2500a NEED a 640k file?
Searched the forums, tried the two links for fixing the Nightrider lights, i.e.:
ABA DSS - Free to Air Satellite TV Community - View Single Post - Fix for nightrider lights on Pansat2300A and 2500A
ABA DSS - Free to Air Satellite TV Community - View Single Post - scrolling lights across LED, the "knight rider" fix.
and am still having no luck - Nightrider hell.
Questions for you:
Am I using the right file for uploadage to a 2500a Non-clone? (CS_228t_Lightning_100t_series_serials.bin)
I suspect that the Nightrider fix is a timing issue on my part, but for just in case, here is what I am doing: - Queue up 2500-2700 Serial Updater with .bin file and ready to click on WRITE
- Power down the STB
- Power up the STB, waiting for the first green LED then before the 2nd LED comes on click on WRITE and I get the software progressing with the upload.
- Once I get 100%, then a "COMPLETE" window on the software, the STB goes black for a very brief moment.
- I immediately power down the STB for 10+ seconds.
- Power back up and NO TV and nightrider returns.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to flash the Factory or BL .bin and get a working STB prior to attempting multiple burns with the CS .bin?
The kids are on Christmas break and we NEED TV to keep them out of our hair, please help.
(I know forms have rules about posting links, but since all inks are cross referenced to this forum/site I didn't think it was a problem - I apologize if it is out of line, but linked references are always good to have)

Re: Fix for nightrider lights on Pansat2300A and 2500A
Okay, ignore that last post for the moment.
Two more days of reading revealed that I may have improperly done the conversion to 2700 ala ABA DSS - Free to Air Satellite TV Community - View Single Post - Non-JTag Pansat 2500A to 2700 Conversion Step by Step. Once that is done I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks guys.
Regarding the previous post - I am still curious as to whether I am following the proper steps. If not, please correct them. If so, please let me know. Maybe once I have the proper base established it will all work.
