Re: Problem with new Bin v201
Its just a bad bin, don't do anything crazy to your rec.
Some people are suggesting rescans and all kinds of other stuff??
Just wait for better BIN

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
chill out, don't screw up your rec. and loose your channel list and have to rescan multiple times / Just wait for better BIN, this is obviously a bad one.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
If having trouble loading EMU file read this
Instructions to Load an emu bin
1. Record your Antenna Settings for your Sats. Make sure your clock, time zone are correct and turn all autos on.
2. go to factory reset and reset you system
3. When receiver Reboots.. .
4. Load NEW EMU bin.
5. When receiver REBOOTS Go back and RESET YOUR ANTENNA Settings FROM first step.
6. Do a new scan of your sats.
7. If you do not have a picture..WAIT it may take awhile /this works great!!!you may want to do a blind scan to,i had to to get my local channels back.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
Yeah, I honestly dont think it has anything to do with rescanning. Odissseusss hit on something about the clone bin which got me thinking. He said it took him a while to get the unit to "overwrite" over the last bin. So I'm thinking its the same problem I'm having with the original panny.
Even though I've factory loaded and factory reseted a "hundred" times, I believe this femu bin is having a hard time re-writing over the existing 299 on certain receivers. Even though they are the same units, some are probably a little slower/faster than others (as far as memory goes?). Like I said, it acts like it wants to work, but it just cant seem to get past the alternating black channel info screen (like it wants to kick on) and scramb channel. It wont pick up the picture or sound.

Many 2700's are takin to it well... many others are having a hard time with the Full Emu file...it's brain will adapt to it if you keep tryin'...
also i have heard that if you don't turn it off when you load it...but do turn it off before it rolls after the load...don't turn it on for the roll 'till after you hook up ur cable...helps too

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
Thanks Gibson, Yes, I tried loading some of the older bins too, to see if it would overwrite with those, but I still got the same results. I just hope I dont have to JTAG this baby. Never done it, and it dont think I want to try.
Its not about trying to get TV... because I do have a backup. Its about the fact that it has me stumped and I cant make it work; because I've never had anything like this happen to me. I'm usually pretty darn good at this. Its like a mountain you're trying to climb and your about 5 feet away from the top, but your fingers are numb and just cant hold on any more. You're almost there and you can taste it. Your so close but yet so far, lol. Off to work now, will have to try again this evening.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
Hi, everyone.
I have done the same as discribed & still no luck with this bin 201. Sometimes I get 8.10 (110) but can not get 7 (119) working at all.
This bin does not work for me either.
Any answers would be greatly appriecated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
OK... Finally got the unit working, and here's an update and status so far.
I did exactly as vbt7848 (5 posts up) and bigevil (on another post) did, and had been doing this in the exact steps as noted.... and had been doing this for the last 3 days. Again, unit acted like it wouldnt overwrite over old bin, even after doing factory bins and factory reset. Well finally last night, after following the exact steps for the umpteenth time, I was able to get the picture and channels back after re-scanning. Even so, I still had some of my favorite channels missing. So I had to rescan several more times.
Here's the problem. (speaking about my unit alone, others may not experience this), When I deleted all the channels to start a fresh scan.... hoping to fill the missing channels, I got the same results as the first time, in that I got no picture. Everything was blank again. So I had to do another "factory reset" to clear the memory. You couldnt just delete all the channels and rescan. It made me start from scratch again. Otherwise it kept giving me blank channels.
Once I got all my channels back (after factory reset), I had a few more missing channels come back. Well wouldnt you know it, I had to do another factory reset. Then I rescanned, and was finally able to get all my channels back.
Now comes the fun part... not really. Once I got channels working again, I went to use my Channel Master to reload my custom channel list that I've used for the last several years. GUESS what, When I loaded it back to the receiver, I got the blank channels again!! So I had to factory reset again, just to rescan so I could get the channles back. So once I got my channels back, I decided to upload the new scan to my PC's Channel Master, thinking since it was a new FEMU file the old C.M. line up wasnt working with the new line up. Well when I got all my favorites, sports, movies, renaming certain channles, and got everything in order... I wrote it back to the reciever. Can you guess again!!! I got all blank channels AGAIN. So yes.... had to start from scratch again.
So it seems that Channel Master is not compatible with this new bin, or vise versa. Coders need to figure out a way to make them work together. Otherwise, you have to do one channel at a time in the receiver's channel edit menu. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THIS WOULD TAKE, to do one channel at a time.
Also, I have a request for the coders, and something I would like to see in the MAIN MENU section. Whenever you have to put your pin to access certain menu features, I would like to see an "UNLOCK" Locked channels section, to allow you to put in your pin so it would take you to all your channels WITHOUT having to enter you password to view certain locked channels. Yes we have little ones, and when their asleep at night, when we want to view adult, or other locked channels, we have to put in a password for each and every channels. This gets tiring after unlocking a few channels. We should be able to unlock "LOCKED" channels all at once, as well as individually, as it is now. Then when you escape that menu, (like you do for menu setup) it would take you back to normal mode, of the requesting passwords for locked channels.
I hope this info was usefull to you. Good luck. Maybe they'll have a new bin soon that will work with Channel Master, and work out some of the bugs. The channel changing is quite slow as well.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
At first it didn't work then learned.
do a factory reset then put new file in after you have loaded file and before on comes on turn it off hook back to sat turn on and don't I repeat don't turn it off from the back only turn it off with the remote and it works great. If you turn it off in the back you will have to reload once again. oh yes one more thing reset default keys.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
Oh... PS, as previoulsy noted
I loaded Factory Bin 124 first.
Then did Factory Reset in the menu.
Then loaded new FEMU bin.
Then found my sats and locked them in. (Make your your setup is correct for you LNB's; ex, Dish Pro, etc)
Next I scanned sats.
Once I got picture I was good.
Again, I wasnt able to use a channel editor at this time. Not compatible!

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
that is way to much trouble?!? I have been using this website and these bin files for about six months now and never had to rescan or reset my stb mainly because I have seen the problems that start steamrolling in once you start screwing with your receiver to get the latest bin file to work.
Here is my question I do not want to reset or rescan my stb so does any one have a clue when the next decent bin file will be available, that one deosn't have to use Voodoo black-magic to make it work.

Re: Problem with new Bin v201
usually when a horrible bin comes out that everyone has problems with then a fix comes out a few days later?
I was just wondering if that was the case here!
And its not that I am rejecting advice, its just that I have been doing this long enough now to know when I should follow the advice of others and when I should not
