Unhappy Pansat 2700A down?

Is anyone else having a problem with their 2700A again today? Mine was working fine after doing a hard boot yesterday and was just fine this morning. I turned everything off, went into town for a few hours and had scrambled/bad channel when I turned the set back on. I tried putting it on channel 200 and hard booting it and letting it auto roll but it did not work this time.

after you set your default keys , go to a lower channel , lets say 105 or 109 , and wait for the keys to roll , a/r works slightly better in lower channels on this units. If your % goes beyond 900% or the unit freezes turn it off using back switch and then turn it on again and wait. If for some reason non of this works , try to input keys manually.

I will try that , cant hurt. One thing though neither of my sets ever go through the receiving picture % thing. Once in a while when I enter a new bin but not even every time I do that and I always turn them off by the back. Usually just the prompt to load the EPG comes up. Is this unusual?

Re: Pansat 2700A down?

You might want to load factory file. This will clear any glitch that could have got in your STB from previous bin. Then enter latest bin. Now re-enter your sat settings and scan the birds again...

Re: Pansat 2700A down?

tried this in the afternoon finally got it to work factory reset, reloading birds then new bin, setting to 102 and after about 10 minutes it came in. Worked fine until I shut it off about 9pm. Turned it on at 3:30am and again scrambled/bad channel. This has been going on now since Thursday, getting a little annoying seems like it is only the pansat 2700A doing this. Hope this is not because they are discontinuing to manufacture this model.

Re: Pansat 2700A down?

When you turn the unit off, it does not get the new keys when and if they changed while the unit was off. I never turn any of my units off. This way they always get the updates as they are sent out. Put on channel 239, leave for 15- 20 minutes and see if the keys will roll. This is an older Panny so it will take longer for the keys to roll. Don't touch the unit while it is auto roll looking for the keys...

Re: Pansat 2700A down?

I agree with JC.... In the last 2 years of having my original Panny 2700, I have NEVER turned off my unit. Not from the power switch in the back... nor from turning the receiver off with the remote. It stays on 24 hours a day. The only time I turn it off, is when I need to do a fresh scan of the EPG. After several hours, the epg will will stop filling in, so I just turn it off with the remote for a few seconds, and start again with a fresh EPG. But other than that, I never turn it off. I just turn the TV off itself. Otherwise you'll continue to get the scrambled channels message, and will have to wait for it to roll.

But won't this cause the unit to overheat or just continue to draw unnecessary power by leaving it on. Sounds crazy but I'm real big on energy conservation.
