DiSEqC 4x1 Connection help
My setup is a STAB HH120; 33" offset dish; Invacom QPH 31 (2 circular 2 linear standard outputs); Pansat 6000hxc reciever. My dish is aligned to my southern most satellite (which is exactly my longitude, lucky me). To align the dish I used a single linear output to the reciever; bypassing the motor. Getting in the 90's strength and 80's quality after a smart scan. I'm pretty sure I have it peaked. All the FTA channels that should be there, are there.
I now want to check how it tracks the clarke belt and the other satellites. I wish to try 119 first. It's a circular polorized satellite. I have a 4x1 DiSEqC. Inputs labeled sat 1, sat2, sat3, sat4. I am only interested (for now) in a singal circular and a singal linear output. The other two will be terminated (75 ohm terminator). The connections, if I understand correctly, would be one circular output to sat1 and one linear output to sat2. Out from the DiSEqC to the LNB connection on the STAB motor. On the STAB motor the REC connection goes to the 1 IF connection on the Pansat 6000hxc reciever.
Here is where I need help. I have read that the output from each LNB has to be identified by a tone burst (set on the reciever) in order for the reciever to recognize which output to use. I have look thru the menus and find no such selection.
This leads me to a second question. When I choose the method to use the dish motor, I can select either DiSEqC 1.2 or USALS. Which should I choose. Does one have advantages over the other.

Interesting setup you have.
Normally, if you are using a motor, you will only need LNB. Of course I understand you want to track both kinds of sats. Unfortunately, you cannot use both disecq and motor simultaneously. It is usually one or the other. To answer your question about disecq 1.2 or USALS, if you are using a motor, you must select USALS. Which means that you do not have the flexibility of selecting which LNB (connected to a disecq switch) you want to use when used with a motor. Which means that you can connect only one LNB using a motor. You are really limited by the functional limitations of the receiver. All receivers that I have knowledge about only give you the option to select either USALS(use with motor) or disecq(use with switch). Maybe future receivers will allow both.
Maybe others may have more info on this setup.

You need to put your settings as this.
LNB type Standard (circular)
LNB freq 11250
22KHz off
Diseqc Port1 if that is what the 4X1 is on
Motor USALS
and that is for DN and Bev
LNB type Universal (linear)
LNB freq 10750
22KHz off
Diseqc port 2 if you have the L on port 2
Motor USALS
and that's all you need to use the 4X1 switch with the motor. The rest you have connected right.

Carpenter1,
Thanks for your reply. I had a hunch the L.O. settings might be the key. What would be the repercussions if DiSEqc 1.2 were chosen as a dish mover?
thanks again,

Carp is right. I check my FTA and it does have the option to select port # as well as USALS for motor. Apologize for the confusion.

Jpeterson,
Thanks for checking and coming back. If I can ask another question, "Is the port selection,as well as the other parameters, neccessary for every satellite selected on the Antenna setup menu"?
