Captive Works CW-700S
My reciver is coming soon today around evening, and I read the cw700 how to and it said after you load the current file do you have to do a factory reset after every bin loaded? or just the first time? because I dont get it?
the part in red is the part I dont get
Download and Unzip latest BIN file.
Transfer unzipped file onto USB stick then plug it into the box. You should see a message that says USB ready. Now press the USB button on remote and then scroll to the right to open the Software tab. Look for new file and press OK to load it. After it loads, it will ask you if you want to reboot, say YES.
When it reboots then go in menu and do a Factory Default. Then reboot again from the rear power switch. When it comes back up again, now you can setup satellites and options and rescan all satellites. After that is done, exit out of all menus and with the remote press F1 000 to enable the Patch. You should see a message on your tv that will say PATCH ENABLED. Now wait for keys to roll and watch tv.
So am I right ot wrong? I have to do a factory default, scan sats, and do a patch enable after every bin? or just the first time?

You dont have to, but it would be better that you do (thats what I found out) to do a patch enable after every bin...
just my 2 cents.....
love this stb and the support...is the best

Re: Captive Works CW-700S
I have the cw-800 which is pretty much the same stb -pvr & the only time I have done a factory default is when I am having a problem with it. I have never factory defaulted mine on any new bin file & never had a problem.

Re: Captive Works CW-700S
There is one sure fire way to see, and that is to do it both ways and see if there are any differences.

Re: Captive Works CW-700S
For example
if I load today's fix I then got to factory default, rescan sats, and patch enable
then if antoehjr bin comes out 2 days later I got to load the bin then factory default, rescan sats and do a patch enable again?
am I right?
I dont think I am right, because I am sure you only load bin, then you only rescan sats and patch enable once like the remium version isent it?

It's better to follow the instruction for the first time when loading bin to your Cw700.Next time if you need to load any future release bin, then just load it over the previous one and you are good to go.You don't need to do factory default or Sats scan again.

Re: Captive Works CW-700S
I am having a problem to get my CW 700s to receive a signal. I just got it on monday and i am getting no signal or quality. I installed the CW Disque switch that came with it and that didnt help. I was using a neusat before and it worked fine before the bins ran out and no support. My dish is an old DN dish with 2 DN LNB's taped together, i dont know anything else about them. Could someone please tell me what LNB, Transponder settings, etc to use as i am new to this. I think i should at least be getting some sort of signal but i dont know if its because im not on the right trasnponter or something! Please help,
Thanks, Lee

Re: Captive Works CW-700S
Hey dude
Go upto the top pf the menu and click where it says 'Fourm'.
Then go down the list to where is has all of the different receivers listed.
Find the one marked for your Brand and Model, it has the word help after it.
Click on it
Then at the top of the page (at the left) you can make your own thread for your question.
