need help with 1.42 bin - ABA DSS

Am I doing something wrong? I loaded the 1.42 bin and the problem im having is with the EPG. It said to turn off the reciever and it will download the guide. Well I noticed when i turn it off the green lock light stays on now so i assumed it was downloading. But when i turn on the reciever it seems just like normal, some channels havae the guide some dont and even the ones that do only go for a few hrs or few days. I normally have to but it on CNN an the Military channel to get the guide. I rebooted but still nothing. Am i not doing something right, is there a button im supposed to press to get it to download? Thanks...

Make sure your EPG guide is turned ON in your setup, turn unit off with the red button on your remote and wait fivr minutes and then turn back ON. Put your STB on channel 239 (WGN), for several minutes and your guide will download. Let us know if this fixes your problem...

I know about turning to certain channels to get the guide but the info for the 1.42 bins says all you have to do now is turn the reciever off and the guide automatically downlaods but it dosent. And how do you turn the guide on and off?

ok im sorry but maybe im just slow or something. i looked at the link but there is nothing that says hwo to turn the EPG on or off. I can see whats comming on so i assume the guide is on. But the info for the new 1.42 bin says that when you turn off the reciever if will download the guide. It dosent say anything about turning to a certain channel. I know about turning to channels to get the guide but the way i understand it the 1.42 bin gets the guide when you turn the box off and you dont have to go to certain channels.

Have you tried these steps?

GET 7 DAYS OF EPG
To get full 7 days EPG go to any channel on the listed Transponders. EPG will Populate for full 7 days in about 10 to 15 mins, if you have more than one echo sats connected it will take 15-30 mins to populate for all of sats.

Some TPs below help you get 12 hour EPG.
Dishnetwork
TP 12530
CHs 457 or 517
Bell VU
TP 12268
CH 212 or 615

yes that is what im talking about it says "just turn power off via remote,and EPG loads!' but it dosent. Im nto trying to be rude but again i know you can turn to certain channels to get the guide, IM NOT TALKKING ABOUT THAT

Do you have a switch on the back to turn it off and on? If so turn off and back on and it will reboot itself.Try this maybe it will work.
I'm running a Viewsat Ultra and can only give you an Idea as what to do.
I know one of the mods has an STB like yours and likely knows the answer to your problem. Unfortunately you'll have to wait until he comes along..

hey here i am buddy.

ok,yes.your very correct.all you have to do now is simply turn off the unit.-leave it off over nite.
and epg loads on dish net.you have to wait about 10-15 mins though!!!

if still no luck after 15 mins.
all you have to do is,do a factory default-ALL
setup and rescan again.
it wouldnt even work for me at all until i did that.
once you do that,and wait with it turned off via remote for 15 mins at least,you will be all set buddy.
and you will love it.
