Heat Issues with cw600 prem
I've had my receiver for about two weeks now and it would always overheat after about 2-4 minutes of use so i had to remove the cover and keep a fan blowing on it, so last week i cut a hole in the cover and installed a fan from my old computer case which fixed the problem. Has anybody else had similar problems or did i just get a faulty box? Don't get me wrong the box is an A+ if it weren't for the overheating issue.

Re: Heat Issues with cw600 prem
somethings wrong there.they run cool.
turn the fan off.unhook the line from dish.let it sit for a few mins and see if it still runs warm.
you of course killed your warranty now.

Re: Heat Issues with cw600 prem
I've never heard of overheating issues with the CW600p, I leave mine ON all the time 24/7, the only time I shut it off is to load a bin, I've had no heating issues what so ever. You probably got the bad one in the whole bunch, a lemon. If you can fix it to keep it running it's cool, if not a replacement is that expensive.

Re: Heat Issues with cw600 prem
i tried everything before i installed the fan but nothing worked, it's actually not the decoder thats getting hot but the transistor that is overheating. The first time I took the cover off to see how hot it was getting to the touch (after unplugging it of course ) i burnt my finger on the aluminum heatsink. oh well it still works like a charm, i just did what i had to do without a long warranty wait.
