Re: Plastic on reciver
Mine had the plastic foil, it's a scratch protection, for that sensitive mirror-like surface. But after a while it started to come off on it's own and I took it all completely. My friends unit didn't have it on when he bought it, probably someone was looking prior to his purchase, and possibly took it off, or it came off on it's own because of heat/cold exposure. No big deal, the plastic foil doesn't affect the units functionality in any way, only cosmetic protection.
I assume this is the plastic you are referring to.

No that plastic foil has nothing to do with the STB being a clone or not. The only way to determine a clone cw600p from authentic is using the serial number. The rest is all identical. But even if you have a clone, there is no clone kill code in the CW600p bins, so you have nothing to worry about.
"If your receiver serial number starts with CWP0611XXXX where XXXX is a four digit number, your receiver is not an authentic CaptiveWorks product and does not carry warranty. Return it immediately to your supplier and demand full refund."

Re: Plastic on reciver
Listen there is no need to worry at all, mine did not have it either. Somebody was like somebody else stated, looking at the receiver before you. Load a bin on it and if it works don't worry about it.

Re: Plastic on reciver
The plastic is just there to keep the unit from getting scratched, a lot of electronics mfg's do this - in time you can always peel it off if you like - the plastic stops the display from becoming scratched.
