Re: and now what?
when you load the bin file it will start counting to 100 ,takes a few minutes, then the receiver will reboot.

Re: and now what?
When the STB is finished the loading process it will read "End" on the display, do not interrupt it before that. Sounds like you are having some trouble loading it up. Give me some info and I'll let you know of what you are doing wrong.
Is this your first time loading the unit?
Are you using Usb-to-serial adapter or just the serial cable that came with the box?
Tell me exactly what you do when you load the bin, list all the steps.
thanks

ok.you cant use boot method with a usb adapter.thats why your getting the com port errors.
you need to use standby mode.
let it power up then press power off on front.
then she will load.

Re: and now what?
also make sure you try the other COM ports on the loaded, it won;t necessarily be COM1.
If you want to make sure what COM port is assigned to the usb-to-serial adapter do this:
Open the Device Manager by clicking on the button from Control Panel, System, Hardware tab
Expand the Ports listing, the COMMUNICATIONS PORT (normally COM1) will be there, along with the Printer Port (normally LPT1) and unless you have other COM ports devices then the only other listed there would be the USB-to-Serial device and in brackets beside it the COM port number will be listed.
