First of all I just noticed that there is no forum for the Captive Works 700s box ? Is this because it is (question because I don't know) the same as the 600s premiium except it has usb support?? If that is so ??? wouldn't it be more appropriate to name this the CW600Premium-CW700 help forum??

Ok here is the story - Living in Baja CA about 50 miles s of Ensenada and another gringo down here - close acquaintence unloaded a couple of his coolsats a 4k and a 6000 to a couple of local families here who are my friends - thing is he knew about the support issues and had updated most of his own stuff to viewsat, and on top of it this guy is loaded he truly could afford to make his coolsats into doorstops and gold plate them on top of that - instead he sells them to these families who without these boxes are limited to a couple of stations of local tv - to make it worse these families struggle to get by and the $ they put out for these boxes was a significant expenditure for them - he didnt sell them cheap either charged them top $ - he also sold me my CS 4000 Pro for $185 last August - and it wasn't a new unit it was one of his already used - but like these families here it was my first fta experience didn't know nothing and was just happy to get some tv down here - sorry about all that but just pisses me off - anyway had to tell one of their kids again today that no coolsat fix - 199 on 110 only - I'm tired of having to tell this to a 14 yo and seeing his smile turn downward!

Anyway decided to purchase a couple of boxes myself 4 these two families and at the same time get another friend his 1st as a wedding gift (well they are shacking up but after the kid is born I'm sure they will make it official) and since I don't even count my old CS4000Pro as a viable backup for my iPro figured i'd purchase a cw for myself for the guest roomm and as a backup

Since all of these are going to be out of pocket 4 me decided to look at the various forums here and see where I can get the most bang for my buck.

Seems to me that the CaptiveWorks have very few users complaining and actually most seem to be VERY happy wit hthe boxes - also even more important is again it seems that the Captiveworks team have been providing support for their line and also seem to be right on top of the list when it comes to releasing new fixes.

bottom line to me the Captiveworks 700 which I believe I can get at $109.95 or less including shipping is an excellent buy for the $ (bang for the buck) is a reliable receiver and has excellent support to date 4 updates??

Does anyone have info that would lead me to think otherwise?? Is there a better box for the $ then the CW700 would rather not spend anymore per unit if I can avoid it - as I said 3 of these are gifts.

The only real satisfaction I am going to get is I am going to take a large hammer to at least one of the Coolsats and return it to the individual who sold it to these friends and let him know my opinion of that!! - hey when I say this guy is loaded - he's building a quarter million dollar mansion - compound down here just 4 part time partying and to work on his baja trucks that he races in the baja 1000 and other races - like he needed the fricking hundred and some odd dollars he charged these families for his old coolsats ah well I'll stop ranting

Please respond asap as i'm going to order these tonight as of tomorrow I will be in Ensenada for a couple of days w/o internet access and want to get these shipped to LA and transported down here asap.

The Cw700 is great. Also the settings and the support is pretty much the same as the 600,800. IF you want for few bucks more get the 800PVR is worth it.But if your not looking for PVr the 700 is great, you know is better than coolsat.

lol,I didn't read your post because it was toooooooooooo loooooooooooong but if you want a nice receiver then go for a Captiveworks 800.

I love it so will you.

It's cheap around $125 to $ 145.

The CW team have been on top of their game and they have provided exellent support for the receivers. The CW is a very nice box to test. Very easy to use and the reviews have been very positive.
Yes, we are missing the CW700 section on the forum but it will be added very soon.

yup the 700s is pretty much a 600s premium with a usb port.
great stbs.you will be extremely satisfied.
their software and features i find is above many others.
support is simply one of the best.

CW 700 is good if you do not need recording. But you say you have kids, so I say get the CW 800 with PVR. Add an external USB hard disk and the kids can watch recorded movies over and over again when TV is down. Keep them smiling!!!!

and just so this post isn't too short wouldn't want to disappoint anybody - just thought I would say that I am so looking forward to taking a very big sledge hammer to my Coolsat 4000 pro - with each wack I will be thinking of the company and the norw team that keep me frustrated for months - while others with different brands were enjoying their hobby -

I just should have purchased my iPro months before I did and accepted that I had been had (hard to admit) but I bought a unit without knowledge and in essence had been taken in by a $#&%*& - wouldn't have bothered me as much if I had purchased it from some poor guy trying to get out from under or even a legit dealer - hey it's the American way - CUSTOMER BEWARE!! - but to get had by a local who is rich, knew the support was sh**** and had already bought Viewsats for himself - ultimately as people realize his nature - he is the loser and I'm thankful that I can afford the few hundred bucks involved here in replacing my box and those of friends
