When HD becomes Mandatory
Will we need to get a HD receiver or will the cw600p still work? I'm confused about this a bit.

Re: When HD becomes Mandatory
There is a lot of talking about digital and a lot of people can become confused between Digital and HD. There will be some new channels added to HD but they will be still available on the regular providers.

Re: When HD becomes Mandatory
the local stations keep saying that i think it is feb that all stations have to broadcast in hd and that you need a special receiver to use your tv - and only if your tv is hd ready will it work......... luckily i have an hd ready tv but just wondering if i should count on buying new fta's - i have 5 cw600p's - are they going to be toast?

Re: When HD becomes Mandatory
All current FTA receiver can handle digital signal so there is no need for any additional convertor, however non-HD receivers will not be able to give you the HD resolution. In other words, you'll see HD channels as regular channels

Local stations will broadcast in Digital and not HD. This why you will need an adaptor if you want to watch local TV and you TV is made for analog signal.
Hope this helps you.

Re: When HD becomes Mandatory
next year all channels must be digital ,there is a difference between hd and digital ,all sat recievers are digital allready so a standard definition reciever will still work just fine

well said. i know alot of people that have gone out and got a new hd tv when they already had a receiver and tv that will work just fine most tv made in the past 5 years or so will work just fine, now if you have a tv that is like 10 years old i would look into updating it if you dont have a sub to dtv, dish, cable, fta receiver or that digital box so dont go out and spend money you dont have to
