CW600S Premium - Bad Bin or dish?

Fairly new to FTA and still trying to learn the ins and outs...
had a friend reprogram my receiver a couple weeks ago while I was visiting on vacation and install the latest update (at the time). When I returned home (week or so later) I plugged it in to try it and no signal. As I hadn`t used it since it went down last fall I just assumed the dish had moved during one of the crazy storms we had the winter. I finally got around to realigning the dish, checked it again and presto...scrambled channel. I left it for a day, still nothing. A week later I flicked on the TV in the workshop (where I was testing the receiver and had it left on) and to my surprise it was working. The catch however, was that every so often (from 1 minute to 15 minutes) the picture freezes and scrambled channel appears. This freeze could last 10 seconds or 2 minutes.
Is this still a dish alignment issue or a programming one? Any insight appreciated. Tks.

Welcome to Abadss! In order to download the new bin you will have to upgrade your membership. 1.98 is the newest bin. Go to menu, accessories, about stb, & look beside S/W Ver to find out which bin you have.

Re: CW600S Premium - Bad Bin or dish?

Thanks for the quick responses people...
I checked the settings and this was the versions I have currently:

H/W: V1.00
S/W: V1.93
LOADER : V3.01

I guess that means I need the lateset bin file. I need to get a null cable now. I'm heading into town tomorrow so i guess I'll find one at The Source (radioshack) or a computer shop. Are they marked as null or straight cables normally?

Its funny, because before this receiver went down last fall I used to have to manually enter the keys, and when they changed I would have nothing. Now I can still watch TV if I don't mind the frequent freeze-ups.

Re: CW600S Premium - Bad Bin or dish?

Ya you see the part that says S/W V1.93 that means that there has been 5 new bins since then. The key method is a thing of the past and is no longer a solution. I would go to a computer store instead of ratshack.

Re: CW600S Premium - Bad Bin or dish?

Ya, I don't like them either, but it may be my only option. My receiver never came with a cable, which I found strange after seeing them for sale with one. The guy wanted to sell me one at an additional cost, and I would have had one only he had none at the time I was there. I know now I probably paid too much. I was just reading through some of the sticky's and saw the one of clones and almost lost my breath till I saw mine has a good s/n! I also saw the buyback that's almost over. Would I be better upgrading, or is this still a good receiver? Seems that a lot of people like this unit.

Re: CW600S Premium - Bad Bin or dish?

I got mine early last fall (~Oct 2007?) and I believe i paid around $160-165?!? It was supposed to be new in the box and came with RCA cables, remote and a small amount of practically useless literature...and no computer cable as mentioned. I believe he wanted another $10 for the serial cable when he got one.
