Re: CW 600 P down
Yeah, CW always seems the last to get the fixes. I'm hearing there is something coming that will black out a lot of the receivers and I'm just waiting til then to change.. definitely will not consider CW the next go around because of the lag time (as compared to the other receivers) to get the fixes.

the other receivers have had their slow times as well...a while ago peeps were saying cw were the bomb, they survived through a few ecm's, fixes were out first, etc...
every brand of stb goes through this cycle...when pansat was slow there for a while people were bashing them and vowing to get rid of it/never buying one again, now they've lasted through a couple ecm's and files come out pretty quickly.
this is why you shouldnt keep all your eggs in 1 basket
p.s. if you think owning a cw is tough right now imagine owning a coolsat

Re: CW 600 P down
i disagree with you- i've had a captiveworks for years and they are usually one of the first to come out with fixes! i think they are definatley worth it - if you look not a lot of fixes out for anyone - give the coders a break ........ they are doing a GREAT job - patience............ what have you paid for it - really? or go pay $120/mo plus PP -

Re: CW 600 P down
Just an observation, one of the last times sonicview was down, it seemed like days before we got a decent fix that seemed to work. Now I wonder if taking longer helped really give us a fix instead of a band-aid. So let's hope that is what will happen here. When the fix does come out it will be a really good one that will last for a long time!!
I know how frustrating this is, but this hobby can be just that...so please try to be patient and we'll all hope we have some good news posted in the "download" section soon!
Just keep checking back. Thanks everyone!

Re: CW 600 P down
All i can say is have patience people. You look at it as if they owe you. Did you ever think the reason it took days may be because they have a life and other things to do like her say hi to their kids or other family members. So please give them the time they need or learn how to do it yourself.

Re: CW 600 P down
I doubt that the coders are getting us fixes out of the goodness of their heart - imagine they are paid to do testing for the manufacturer of the receiver. Granted this receiver only cost $100, and granted it is now not top of the line for CW so suppose it is not the first one the CW coders look at fixing. I have owned a CW600P since I joined.. it is very easy to use and has done the job. But, it always seemed more often than not, CW600P was one of the last ones to get a fix most of the time so I started keeping track who got fixes first because I wanted to get a newer/better receiver and up time was a criteria for me. It's a fact that CW600P has been one of the last ones to get a fix for a long time now. I would think that CW would like to know our dissatisfaction with the delay as when it comes time to upgade/buy a new receiver, the users will undoubtedly take into consideration the support provided when choosing their new one. Right now I just don't want to buy a new one until this N3 hits and I read more which one to get... SonicView has my vote right now tho because of the good support I've seen for all models. Until then, I need to live with the CW600P, but hopefully CW takes note that they are losing customers because of their lag time in getting fixes. If I saw that CW600P started getting fixes as fast as the other manufacturers.. then I'd reconsider and relook at a newer model of CW when I upgrade.. as it sits now, they will not be on my list to look at.
So it's not whining or complaining, just observations.

Re: CW 600 P down
CW has a great track record when it comes to fixes.
I've owned several FTA boxes over the last 3 years and CW has consistently been one of the best.
Bin begging won't speed things up.
What do you think the coders are doing right now? Of course they want to get a working bin out because they want to beat their competitors.
As mentioned above, don't put all your eggs in one basket. I have several different STB's, plus basic cable and a dish on a motor for true FTA so I always have something to watch.
I've spent well over $1,500 on "free" TV hardware over the last 3 years and it's been worth every penny.
The only guarantee in this hobby is downtime.
If you think it's bad now, wait until the switch over to N3...
If you are 100% dependant on a STB as your only source of TV, then you are going to be in the dark and possibly for days or even weeks at a time.
Get a basic cable sub, an OTA, a dish on a motor for true FTA, or some combination of all of the above unless you don't mind being at the mercy of the sat providers who can turn off your signal whenever they want and it might be days or weeks, or in the case a few years ago with "MAP 57" (google it in case you weren't around then), a few months before you see anything again.
End of rant.
